Chapter 60

Khushi stood stunned at her place seeing Arnav in front of her. Arnav was surprised too, to see Khushi there. Both just kept staring at each other standing in their places like statues. Their brains and minds had stopped working. Only their hearts were beating, and beating fast. Khushi could no longer see Arnav clearly as her eyes filled with tears. As the tears flowed out of her eyes, Khushi could see the tall figure of Arnav approaching her. She shifted her gaze towards the floor and wiped her tears quickly. Her feet were stuck to their place. She lifted her gaze again to see Arnav standing right in front of her. Their eyes met once again. Arnav's eyes were filled with apology. Though he couldn't say anything, his eyes spoke volumes. Khushi had left the past long back and she was living the moment. The realisation, that Arnav was hers, now and forever, brought more tears to her eyes which made their way down her cheeks.

Arnav felt sorry for the pain Khushi had gone through because of all the misunderstandings. He considered himself responsible for the tears in Khushi's eyes. He knew that her pain was much more than his. He couldn't see her cry. He restlessly began explaining, "Khushi... what Lavanya told you is not the truth!! It was a big misunderstanding! I refused Lavanya's proposal... I told her that I don't want to marry her. Please don't cry Khushi, I am sorry! I don't know how all this happened... I just... Believe me Khushi, I never wanted to marry Lavanya. I swear I had never even thought of..." He stopped as he saw Khushi smile through her tears.

"I know..." Khushi whispered.

Arnav was surprised. "You know it?!" he asked.

Khushi just nodded.

Arnav raised his hands to wipe Khushi's tears. Khushi closed her eyes, thoroughly feeling the touch of Arnav's fingers on her cheeks. She opened her eyes as Arnav was about to hold her face in his palms. But he hesitated for some reason. He thought maybe it wasn't right and Khushi wouldn't like it. He pulled back his hands but Khushi held them at once. She placed his hands on her cheeks, her eyes telling him that she was his now. Arnav cupped her face and their eyes locked again. They both smiled heartily. They didn't have to speak anything, their eyes and smiles said it all. Khushi placed her hands on Arnav's, as tears of joy rolled out of her eyes. Arnav's eyes were wet too. But there was happiness, satisfaction and a unique feeling of victory. It seemed as if their eyelock was never going to end before Lavanya came there.

"Are you both planning to stay here itself, or do you even wish to go home?" asked Lavanya teasing the lovely couple.

Arnav and Khushi moved away from each other at once, feeling embarrassed.

Aman too came there saying, "Had I not told you, Khushi, that this meeting was a very important one?" Khushi blushed. "Okay, now if you both are done with, you know, realising the truth... let's go home..!" said Aman.

Lavanya nodded in agreement. Arnav and Khushi were still not in a condition to say anything. Lavanya could not hide the tears in her eyes. Khushi could completely understand Lavanya's pain.

Arnav said to Lavanya, "Lavanya, thank you so much yaar!"

"C'mon Arnav, kya main itna bhi nahi kar sakti tumhaare liye? Aan?" replied Lavanya. She further said, "I am so happy for both of you!" But she couldn't stop the tear from rolling down her cheek. Everyone felt sorry for her.

"I am sorry Lavanya..." Arnav tried to console her.

Lavanya quickly wiped her eyes. Smiling, she said with a wink, "It's okay yaar... Chalta hai.!" She could see that Khushi too was feeling bad for her. "Khushi, there's nothing to feel bad about. Arnav was always yours... It was me who couldn't understand this" Khushi didn't know what to say. Lavanya said to Khushi, "But you have to de me a favour now!"

Arnav missed a beat. He didn't want Lavanya to create any more problems now. Aman waited curiously to know what Lavanya wanted from Khushi.

Khushi was confused. "Sure Lavanya... Tell me..." she said.

Lavanya said, "Khushi, now it is your responsibility to search for a life-partner for me! I see that our tastes are same!" said Lavanya with a wink.

Everyone was surprised. Lavanya was such a mature young lady!

Aman, Lavanya, Arnav and Khushi reached the Raizada Mansion. Khushi and Arnav were surprised to see Shashi, Garima and Dadi along with the others waiting for them. Everything was well-planned by Lavanya, Aman and Akash. Everyone was glad that all the misunderstandings were cleared now, and Arnav and Khushi were finally together. Both families were happy and looking forward to establish a relationship. The engagement date was fixed. There was a week's time for the preparations. Days passed by very quickly and finally the day of the engagement arrived.

Khushi was getting ready. She looked at herself into the mirror and blushed. She was getting ready for Arnav... her Arnav. After all those up's and down's, after coming through all those obstacles, finally she and Arnav were going to be together... forever!

Everyone had gathered for the engagement of Arnav and Khushi at the Raizada Mansion. The building was beautifully decorated, with everything arranged perfectly. Arnav and Khushi stood against each other. Now, it was the time to exchange rings. Khushi was about to slide the ring in Arnav's finger when Arnav suddenly stopped her, pulling back his hand. Everyone was surprised at Arnav's action. Khushi was confused and shocked. Why did Arnav stop her? Arnav's action scared Khushi.

"Arnav?" she said in a trembling voice.

"Sorry, but there's something I need to tell you..." said Arnav.

The seriousness with which Arnav was speaking scared Khushi more. Her eyes welled up. What was it that Arnav wanted to tell for which he had stopped the engagement? Khushi would die now if Arnav cancelled the engagement. Her heart was thudding. She couldn't believe that Arnav could do something like this at the very last minute. She stared at Arnav in horror.

"Khushi, you need to know something... Something that I had never told you before..." said Arnav.

Khushi shivered as she heard this. "But I don't want to know anything... I just want you!!" thought Khushi.

The next moment, Arnav was down on his knee holding Khushi's hand. "I love you Khushi! Will you marry me?" he asked in the most romantic way.

Khushi couldn't believe it! Tears rolled down her cheeks. She was overwhelmed by the loveliest, most romantic and the most unexpected proposal from the guy she loved the most. She was at loss of words.

Arnav stood up and said dramatically, "Please say 'yes' Khushi...!"

Khushi just hugged him and began crying. Those were the tears of happiness. That was the outburst of emotions that were buried deep into her heart since all these months. Arnav could feel every emotion behind those tears. He held her tightly in his embrace. Arnav and Khushi were lost into each other's arms without bothering about all the guests present there. This was a very unusual love story in which the girl and the boy had not confessed their love directly to each other till they were about to get engaged.

"I love you Arnav..." whispered Khushi.

After a few moments, Arnav and Khushi realised that they were being stared at by hundreds of eyes. They were very embarrassed, so embarrassed that they didn't even look at each other while exchanging rings.

One day before Arnav and Khushi's marriage, there was Satyanaryan Pooja at the Raizada Mansion. After the Pooja, when the Guptas were about to leave, Arnav requested Shashi and Garima to let Khushi stay back for some time. It was already late. He told them that he would drop her home safely. There was no doubt, ofcourse. Shashi, Garima and Dadi didn't have any problem with that.

Arnav took Khushi for a long drive. After going some distance away from crowded place, Arnav halted the car by the lonely road. He slid down the windows and killed the engine. There was silence, only the night spoke. Arnav watched as the cool breeze mingled with Khushi's silky hair. Her beautiful face glowed perfectly under the night sky. Her cheeks flushed with red as she blushed at Arnav's gaze. "What are you looking at?" she asked dropping her eyelids.

Arnav's expressions changed suddenly as he replied, "Looking so closely at my fiance for the last time..."

Khushi was initially shocked at the reply, but then she laughed it away saying, "Stop kidding, Arnav!" But Arnav was very serious. Khushi smile vanished. "What kind of joke is this?!" she asked scared, her eyes wet.

"This isn't any joke..." said Arnav, stepping out of the car.

Khushi couldn't believe it. She too stepped out of the car and walked to Arnav. Turning him with force towards herself, Khushi said, "What are you saying, Arnav?!"

"I know exactly what I am saying..!" said Arnav dryly.

Khushi was stunned. "Arnav, we are getting married tomorrow and now you are saying that..."

"What I said is completely true Khushi... I am looking so closely at my fiance for the last time, because... you will become my wife tomorrow!" said Arnav with a wink as his lips curved into a naughty smile.

It took some moments for Khushi to register what Arnav had just said. And when she realised it, she ran behind Arnav chasing him as he ran round the car. After a little run and chase, Arnav caught Khushi into his embrace as she came running to catch him.

"You should have seen your face!" said Arnav laughing, "It was all white!! Hahaha" He was expecting Khushi to say something in defense, but instead she stood silently in his embrace tightly holding on to him. Arnav felt warm wetness on his chest. "Khushi? What happened?" he asked in worry as he wiped her tears.

"Please don't do this again... Please! I will die if you go away from me Arnav... I will die..!"

Arnav gently placed his palm on Khushi's mouth to stop her from saying anything further. "Death can't reach you till I am with you" said Arnav with a smile. Khushi hugged him in reply. He gently caressed her.

Arnav and Khushi reached Khushi's home. Khushi got down from the car and wished Arnav a good night. Arnav, in a naughty tone said, "Tomorrow night, at this time, you would be mine in every way! Prepare yourself and be ready... I am gonna keep you awake all night!" Khushi couldn't stop blushing and she ran away. "Just wait and watch my future wifey!" thought Arnav as he drove to his home.

With all the rituals and traditions, Arnav and Khushi finally got married!

Khushi sat in front of the dressing table to remove her ear-rings and other jewellery. She was nervous for their wedding night. Her thoughts were interrupted when Arnav called out to her.

"Khushi?!! What are you thinking about?!" he asked. "Oh my God!! Are you in love with someone else?!!" he asked acting shocked and worried. "I am right here with you, but you are ignoring me!! Instead of thinking about me, you are thinking about someone else!!!" he said dramatically.

Khushi laughed at his drama. "No Patidev!! How can I think about anyone else when you are with me?!" said Khushi.

"What?!!" exclaimed Arnav. "That means you think about someone else when I am away?!" he said with fake anger and shock.

Khushi giggled. "No... I think only about you...!! Always...!" she said.

Khushi stood up as Arnav came closer and stood behind her. She could see the glint of naughtiness in his eyes through the mirror. He hugged her from behind, his hands across her belly. He rested his chin on her shoulder and whispered in her ears, "Why?"

Khushi gasped as she felt his warm breath over her ears and her body shivered. She closed her eyes placing a hand on his over her belly and another on his cheek. "Because I love you...!" she whispered.

He smiled looking at her in the mirror. Moving aside her hair, he kissed her on the neck sending another shiver across her body, and whispered in her ear, "You do?!!"

She was breathing heavily. She just turned and hugged him tightly.

Arnav smiled as her kissed her head. "I love you too!!" he said.

They stood there in each other's embrace for a couple of moments. Suddenly Arnav felt Khushi's warm tears wetting his shirt. Those were the tears of happiness.

"Khushi, what happened?! Ohho!! Why are you girls so emotional?!! Achha baba, I wont say 'I Love You' again, okay?!" he teased her.

She quickly wiped her tears saying, "No no!! I want you to say it!!" she said instantly.

Arnav just stared naughtily at her raising his brows and she looked away blushing.

Arnav couldn't take his gaze off his beautiful wife. Holding her close and looking intently into her eyes he said, "I can't wait any longer, Khushi..." he paused and then said, "Can I...?"

Khushi knew what Arnav was asking for. She blushed more. "I am all yours" she whispered shutting her eyes preparing to surrender herself to the man she loved the most.
