Chapter 59

Before Aman could say or do anything, Shyam approached Khushi. "Khushi..." he called out and Khushi turned to face him.

Aman missed a couple of beats. "Khushi, please say 'no'... please say 'no'... please..." he kept murmuring. Aman wanted to do something to stop Shyam from proposing Khushi, but what? He looked around, thinking, as his brains were working faster.

"What is it Shyam?" asked Khushi as she saw Shyam staring at her. Now Aman could do nothing but wait and watch.

Shyam moved closer to Khushi and said, "So sorry for the interruption, but I couldn't wait any more..."

Khushi looked at him in confusion as he took out a beautiful red rose from under his coat. Aman watched everything sadly. He turned his back to them as he wasn't really ready to witness Shyam proposing Khushi. He could only think of Arnav now... What would be Arnav's reaction after knowing this? Arnav would go mad if Khushi said 'yes' to Shyam...

"I love you!" Aman heard Shyam say, "Would you like to be my life-partner?"

Aman closed his eyes tightly hoping for a 'no' from Khushi. But Aman's heart broke when he heard, "Oh my God! I can't believe it! Tell me this is not a dream! Oh my God!!"

But the next moment, Aman realised that it was not Khushi's voice. He turned at once to see that Shyam had proposed Anjali and not Khushi...!! Aman almost jumped in joy after knowing this. He was so happy, that he went and hugged Shyam. Everyone was happy for Shyam and Anjali as Anjali accepted the proposal happily. Aman couldn't believe what he just saw. He pinched himself to ensure it was all real. He wanted to tell it to Arnav immediately but Mansi told him that Arnav had left the party. Khushi too left early and Aman didn't get a chance to talk to her either. After the party, Aman spoke to Shyam and all doubts were cleared. Both were pleasantly surprised to know how much Arnav and Khushi loved each other. Now it was time to bring them together.

After the party, Aman went to Raizada Mansion and was told that Arnav had not reached home. Arnav had left the party but had not come home. Aman knew Arnav very well. He told everything to everyone at Raizada Mansion. They all discussed over the matter and came up with a plan to unite Arnav and Khushi. Lavanya readily agreed to help. Infact, it was Lavanya who came up with the idea.

Khushi was still asleep when her phone began ringing. It was 6:45 am. Khushi sleepily took her phone in her hand and was surprised to see "Aman Sir calling...". She sat up in her bed and received the call. Aman told her to be ready by 10 for a meeting. He told her to get dressed well as it was a very important meeting and they could not afford the meeting to go wrong. Before Khushi could say anything, Aman disconnected the call saying he would be there by 10 to pick her up for the meeting.

Khushi didn't know what to do. She didn't at all want to attend any meeting. And now she had resigned already, though Aman didn't know. She decided to tell Aman about her resignation. She dialed Aman's number but it was busy. She tried again, but the same result. She had to wait for some time. She walked up and down her room restlessly to kill time. After about ten minutes, she called Aman again. She was glad that the call connected this time. But even after many rings, Aman didn't pick up. Khushi didn't know what to do now. Should she call Arnav to confirm about her resignation? No... how could she call Arnav after all that had happened? There was no chance her heart could bear more. She called Aman again and again, and finally he picked up the call. But before Khushi could speak anything, Aman said, "Good that you called Khushi! I had forgotten to tell you to carry along the file of our project for Mr. Gokhale and also the CD of the presentation... We would need that!"

"But Sir..."

"Don't ask anything right now Khushi, I am very busy. I will tell you all the details when we meet, okay! Be ready at ten. And remember, the success of this meeting depends on you...! Bye.."

The call ended. Khushi's eyes watered in helplessness and frustration. "I don't want to attend any meeting!!" she said as she threw her phone on the bed. "He didn't even listen to me! He knows nothing! I can't attend any meetings now! How will I tell Aman Sir that I have resigned? He is not ready to listen to anything... I am given the responsibility of the meeting... I can't run away from my responsibility... Just because of my personal issues, I can't be the cause of any loss to the company however small it may be... And now, if I refuse to go for the meeting, it wouldn't be possible to make any other arrangements. Okay fine, I will go... But this will be my last meeting! After the meeting I will tell Aman Sir about my resignation. I just hope Arnav Sir will not be there with us... Hey Devi Maiyya, help me!"

Lavanya found Arnav standing by the window of his room.

"Arnav? What are you doing here all alone?" asked Lavanya. Arnav tried to show that he was fine, but Lavanya didn't fail to notice his wet eyes. "Arnav, let's go out for breakfast!" said she in excitement. Arnav was in no mood to entertain Lavanya and her chatter.

"Sorry Lavanya, but I am feeling a little low... Not today yaar..." said Arnav in a dull voice.

"Please Arnav..." requested Lavanya, "You said you don't want to marry me.. and I accepted your decision..." Arnav had not expected her to come to this topic. He was stunned. She further said, "This is my last wish yaar... please don't say 'no'... I will be leaving soon. Don't know when we will meet again..."

Now how could Arnav refuse? He agreed to take her out for breakfast. The place was of her choice ofcourse! It was a resort - a very special one. Lavanya had already booked it.

Khushi was siting silently in the passenger seat, looking out from the window, as Aman drove towards their meeting venue. He wanted to tell Khushi how much Arnav loved her, but he hesitated for some reason. He got a chance when Khushi asked him, "I heard about Arnav... Sir getting married to Lavanya" she said controlling her tears and wearing a smile. Aman could sense her difficulty in speaking about it. "So, how's the wedding preparation going on?" she asked.

Now this was the chance Aman didn't want to miss. "I guess someone gave you the wrong information... I mean, incomplete information..." replied Aman. Khushi gave him a confused look. Aman continued, "Actually there was some misunderstanding initially... But it was cleared eventually when Arnav refused to marry Lavanya!"

This was shocking for Khushi. "What?!" she exclaimed, "Arnav refused Lavanya's proposal?!!" Aman nodded. "But why?!" asked Khushi not knowing whether to be happy or sad.

"Because he loves someone else..." replied Aman. Khushi was surprised. She knew the person Arnav loved was her. But still now she didn't want to misunderstand. She didn't want to be sure about what she just thought or felt. Before Khushi could say anything, Aman said, "But alas! Arnav thinks that girl loves someone else..." Aman made a sad face.

"No no!!" said Khushi at once.

Aman gave her a surprised look and asked, "You know her?"

Khushi calmed herself down and said, "No... I..I mean... Arnav should talk to her... He shouldn't assume things..." Khushi quickly looked out of the window and smiled as joy filled her heart.

Aman smiled to himself seeing how much Khushi loved his buddy and how lucky Arnav was. Khushi tried to control her joy telling herself not to assume Arnav loved her; she didn't want to have her broken heart crushed more...

Arnav and Lavanya reached the resort. She took him to the place which was booked by her. There was a single table at the center with a couple of chairs. It was surrounded by natural beauty of trees and lawn. Arnav went ahead to occupy a chair when Lavanya hurried to stop him. She told him to sit on the other chair and she occupied her place so that she could keep an eye on the entrance to see the people coming in. Arnav was confused by her childish behaviour but he didn't mind. He was waiting for the waiter to come and take their order, and Lavanya was waiting for someone else.

Arnav was silent. Lavanya knew exactly what she had to do. She began speaking about some general things. And while talking, Lavanya casually said, "Yesterday you were not there Arnav... Aman had come after the party at your office. He was telling that the party was awesome! And you know what?! Some Shyam in your company proposed a girl named Anjali in the party!! And she said 'yes'...!! So cute, isn't it?"

Arnav was shocked. "What?! What did you just say? Shyam proposed Anjali?" he asked in surprise.

"That's what Aman said... What's there to be so shocked?" said Lavanya.

Arnav didn't know what to say. He was very glad to know that there was nothing between Shyam and Khushi as he had thought. And he had misunderstood Khushi once again... He felt the urge to meet Khushi at once. He was about to tell Lavanya that he wanted to go home. Just then Lavanya saw someone at the entrance. She quickly stood up and excused herself saying, "Arnav, I will be back in a moment..."

Arnav nodded assuming Lavanya wanted to go to the washroom. Arnav just sat in his place waiting impatiently for Lavanya to return. He looked around, admiring the beauty of the place. But he felt as if something was missing... Actually, it wasn't 'something', it was 'someone'...

Khushi and Aman had entered the resort. Aman told Khushi to go to some place pointing in that direction, and said that he would join her after reporting at the reception. Khushi nodded but she found something weird. She went to the place where Aman had told the other party would be waiting. She had expected two-three people waiting for them, but there was only one person sitting with his back at her. And as soon as she saw the person, she felt as if she knew him. She slowly walked towards him and her heart began beating faster. Hearing her footsteps, the person turned to see who it was and Khushi stood stunned at her place seeing Arnav in front of her...
