We are animate beings, who communicate with our surroundings and with those around us . Language is one mode of expression ,backed by the words and the tool one emotions so ones true response can be relayed to society at large and people around us. The episode is a gamut of character's feelings in various scenarios
Dhani pensively sits in the moonlit courtyard. Holds on protectively to his jacket on her lap. Dulari supportively reminds her about the hastily passing nature of time. Alongside Dulari acknowledges that time also leaves behind a trail of one's past. We try to run from our past but whether we like it or not we have to face our past .The past, Five years ago, the blow of the fiery furnace in courtyard of the ashram! the screams of her mother in the hospital. Her watching the news report on telly from the hospital bed, blast in ashram! all the widows in ashram assumed dead including Dashrant tirpathi's daughter in law and her mother.The past, her realization the bomb was meant to kill her! . The past, Dhani recalls, how she felt her belly, that she and her mother were both alive! being treated in emergencies. In the past how she had begged her mother to flee Banaras for fear of their lives and above all her unborn child's life! take refuge in a place where none recognized them! anywhere far away! where she could safely bring up her child. Yes the past where her mother had wondered helplessly where would they flee? When Dhani had pointed upwards and replied, the one above in the heavens, he will carry us away from this dangerous place to a safe haven! and he did mother.. protected us brought us to this ghetto of Mumbai! Vidha got the security of life, they have each other! presently that's enough for them to survive on. She doesn't need anything other than this. But then panic grips her, should they locate them here ,they will surely make a fresh attempt to kill them again! Dulari consoles her daughter, they have come so far with resilience and gods help then what's the fear? she has her mother beside her! Dulari assures her daughter. Dhani protests she left everything behind, started her life anew , shelved past memories, then why is the past slipping back into the present? Questions a baffled Dhani. Why is the past coming back? to stir up bygones! Dhani weeps , hugs her mother for support but for her question the answer hangs in the silent space..#Moving on to the present .This living in the Mumbai ghetto brings into Dhani's life a god sent benefactor like Parsiya .Of recently Parsiya has developed some affection for Dhani other than neighbourly looking out for a vulnerable family. Today as Dhani uses the shared communal tap area for washing dishes, she is preoccupied with Vidha, fussing over wanting to meet her demon uncle. Dhani worries , it's not about her passing away Viplav, as a bad memory ..but it's about capping the truth from Vidha about who her demon uncle is to her? so Dhani is troubled by thoughts . Parsiya catches sight of Dhani at a domestic chore which perks him up !she is just the person he wants ! With red roses hidden behind his back he ummhs and rrs..' today come what may! he intends to say it with flowers! all that he feels for her. Dhani looks up from the washing up and wonders what he wants? he beats around the bush like prat. Dhani is not in the mood she has her own issues like that demon!.. Parsiya feels silly wasn't able to give her the red flowers or convey what he feels for her!
Flies by the flower fairy! and facilitates ! grabs the red roses hidden behind Parsiya's back assumes they are for her, excited shows it to her mother! look mum what babaa gave her! Parsiya steals a glance at Vidha's mother for whom they were really meant for! but the harmless possibility of winning the mum over via bonding with the daughter cannot be overlooked. Parsiya is over the moon at least one lady accept his token of love. he tells Vidha if she likes the red roses, he'll bring a bigger bunch for her next time.It's almost likethey are Vidha's parents that Dhani lost in thought remarks, don't spoil her as it is she's getting more self willed by the day.The flower fairy's not one from the days of yore she knows what giving some one red roses mean, that they love some one! Viplav presenting her a red rose when she was a widow gushes back in her minds eyes.. and now all that was is lost.. Dhani as much as here, is also elsewhere.. but Parsiya addresses his dolly.. but looks at her pensive melancholy mother.. yes dolly, red symbolizes love and he loves her a lot! irritated by the mention of red rose, love Dhani gets up abruptly she forget to get her mother's clothes for laundry.Parsiya drops his head in disappointed, unrequited love.. but nevertheless accepts her body language with grace
Dumb charade, won't fix something that is invisible. Kamini butters Viplav's toast as he walks into the room. She still hopes if she put on the false front of the good caring wife Viplav will eventually surrender to her advances collected together over the period of five years. But Viplav every time he comes across her is to resist her advances and set right her constant interference in his life!. like now, when he moans why she had his baggage collected from mrs .kaushik's place? when calmly ,she tells him eat up we're leaving for Banaras, tickets are booked already! He mocks her with whose permission? Kamini winds up ,she is his wife ,needs no permission besides the wedding is over..no point in hanging about in Mumbai, everyone at home are waiting for his return. He snubs her ,he's spoken to his folks, told them he'll return once his important work here has been done. Kamini loses the plot what important work does he have here? is it that dh... ?and she stops in her tirade and Viplav dares her to repeat as he strains her his ear to catch her obsession he growls, what? She backs off but still moans she's fed up of his behaviour and he retorts he's fed up with her! she needs to mind her own business! not circle around his head like a common fly! She can do what she wants and leave him be! Irate he picks his bag, gives it to her straight he s checking into another hotel . She can attend the remaining function, he has to fulfil his promises to the little girl after that he will return to Banaras ! and Viplav so to speak with bags packed walks out off Kamini's room! pity not out of her life. She is irate vows not to spare this Dhani! but wonders how she will stop Viplav and Dhani meeting.#Dhani on the other hand takes a decision which her mother thinks is a hasty one pack her bags ready to flee this place too! Dulari tries to reason with her ,she understands her pain but leaving this place is not a good idea ,for how long will she be city hopping in the fear of coming across him face to face, besides what guarantee has she got that the next place she gets to she won't bump into bachwa ji again?Dhani is losing it! she has to leave this place right away...she fears Viplav knows where Vidha lives, he's been here once to deliver flowers,he is likely to return.. she cannot handle this, so she continues to pack her suitcase. Dulari knocks sense into her brain , reminds her it was this ghetto that gave then refuge ! the people accepted them! gave them jobs! She yells ,forget jobs.. think about Vidha !displacing her from here and taking her from here is not a good idea.. Dulari actually points out the impact of moving or transfer of place , moving schools means to a five year old. It involves going through emotional truama of leaving behind a neighbourhood the child has grown up in.. leaving her friends..besides being on the run with Vidha will also mean putting the child's teaching and learning at risk. Even the issue of Vidha's welfare and future fails to change Dhani' decision .she retorts, that can be sorted out! besides Dhani is no weakling! They will find a place to live ! but Dulari knows Dhani is being totally hasty and unreasonable and she tells dhani, yes they will find refuge somewhere but all of Vidha' friends are here! what of Parsiya ?day and night she chatters with him. Dhani brushes this side too and says Vidha's her daughter ,she'll have a word with her she'll understand. Dhani gets more clothes and file wallet out of the metal wardrobe . Dulari fed up by her stubbornness snatches the plastic wallet out of Dhani's hand and throws it across the bed ,but out of it flies Viplav's and dhani photo slides across the floor at her feet! helpless she looks down at it.. her heart weeps silently..what was the point of making us meet in life , if fate was going to write the message of parting in the furrows of our lives? Dulari has heard her daughter anguished cry after revealing that she saw Viplav! Dulari comes clean with Dhani is she running away from this place because she fears she will comes across bachwa ji? Dulari dares her daughter ,she fears if she sees him she will weaken? Dhani with tears in her eyes says why would she weaken? She was never weak! and to prove to her mother how strong she really is in terms of Viplav,she takes his photo from Dulari s hand , fuels herself with fatal Kamini flash back ,his voice he made a mistake in marrying Dhani ..Dhani announces gone is the old Dhani mother, and this Dhani has erased everything! and with her own two hands shows her mother, she is unafraid, she rips the photo! to pieces, all but Viplav's face ! She holds on to the pieces. Turns to her mother many times she told her she has no place for him in her life five years ago he chose his path and she chose hers.. now there paths are separate never to converge .In a strop she goes out of the room and chucks the tattered photo on the side of the house! Dhani impresses upon her mother that Viplav, her relationship with him in the past has no relevance to her life presently!.. Dulari knows Dhani is covering up the Ishq she still feels for Viplav..
Who should walk into the pile of neatly ripped photo! the flower fairy being a five year old child, the first thing that comes into her mind is, it's a puzzle! Will Vidha, fit the pieces in the right places to get the complete picture? Heavens! Dhani spots piece that has Viplav's face! she scoops down gathers the piece with with Viplav's face, tells Vidha it's an old picture so she's ripped it and thrown it away! Vidha is a typical child whose attention can be diverted easily! She didn't note her demon uncle's face clearly as she moves on to the next subject, is her new dress for tomorrows function ready? she asks her mother..anywhere but the wedding function decides Dhani and veers Vidha , yes she will get a new dress but not for the wedding but another exciting place! she makes train noises to entertain the five year old!who corrects Dhani, mum it's not choo choo itscalled a train! Dhani empowers her flower fairy , how well she speaks English.. but Dhani's , coercing and cajoling Vidha away from him! seems shaky when the little sugar plum fairy challenges with an upward glare to her eyes... no mum not going in the travel ,tomorrow she has to meet demon uncle and Dhani goes, yes another time ,but tomorrow were they are going has a waterfall, elephants ,horses , but Vidha says a loud no! as tomorrow they will meet the demon monster! She promised the demon monster that she would introduce him to her mum! Dhani has a self willed five year old on her hands. Dhani's inner insecurities take over with regards to meeting Viplav face to face.she fumes and very nearly strikes her child which she now sees as an important factor in her life ,that somehow he seems to be winning over to his side!
Desperate to win against Dhani .. Kamini decides what next to do? she goes over to his hotel room. barges into his business meeting , announces she needs time with her husband. ensures they leave! then attempts to seduce Viplav , who is putty in her hands . She blind folds him ,a symbol of what she has done to him since the last five years since she kicked Dhani out of his life.Viplavhas been systematically been kept in the dark about this gossamer fine conspirator. When Viplav complains about her, she turns blind and deaf to his angst. She only listens to the voice of her purpose , which is to attack her blind folded spouse , into a pleasant surprise ? which to him is sick joke nothing beyond that.. Viplav rejection arms her into attacking Dhani! by beaming up a child from the green mars..
The flowery fairy too has a temper on her. To show disdain towards her mother, for telling her off! Vidha locks herself in the room, stands against a cupboard with a suit case precariously on top of it. Dhani apologizes to Vidha promises never to tell her off so badly Vidha gives her mother lip . Dhani and Dulari barge into sliding suitcase is just about to fall on vidha's head.
The episode to me was an interesting mix ,carries a gamut of emotions , anger, fear , envy ,revenge , attraction and happiness.. Mishal was brilliant in his role of a some what lumbered with a in one's face wife .. he is just so credible in what ever he is given to do. I have to remind myself the cast are actors doing a job!
forgot to add.. actually the episode is an insight into a single working class mother . with a demanding 5 year old daughter. we see dhani a mother , constantly juggling balls in the air to maintain the interest of an intelligent 5yr old who needs to engaged all the time.. dhani gives her the language stimulus , plus moral guidance to.. that's how I SEE dhani now 5 years on..
