Shruthi you should read Palace of Illusions and Winds of Hasthinapur too .
We do not have a copyrighted author so all these retellings of MB are interesting as Jaya or Kamala Subramaniyam's version.
I like you like to analyse a story from the perspective of voice and narrative that unfolds.
