I had so far avoided pointing out the arrogant behaviour, but here is one instance, dismissing the whole other side as humbug. I don't know what sort of hubris seizes people to think that others owe it to them to convince them of something or anything.

That person is so full of himself / herself it's almost repellent at this point in time.
  • I am a reasonably well informed political animal.
  • Over the subsequent years I have debated many academics/professors etc. on public platforms and have given many public speeches as keynote speaker etc.
  • I have been a political activist for a very long time and I have and continue to criticise the actions and policies of UK governments both within our borders and abroad.
  • I have heard these arguments before but am not persuaded by them.
  • Frankly i hear a great deal of disingenuous humbug when it comes to talkling about such matters.
  • Until convinced otherwise I will remain a dissenting voice to the popular narrative of Indian politics.
  • I have been lecturing to ujniversity students about the subject since 2000.
  • I'm neither intimidated or impressed by your attitude.
And that person's propensity to threaten others that he / she would stop wasting his / her time whenever he / she encounters some resistance to his / her viewpoints, is almost comical, if it weren't so pitiable.

There is a democracy index that is maintained by country, that is compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit. The index is based on 60 indicators grouped in five different categories measuring pluralism, civil liberties, and political culture. India, for its size, is doing wonderfully well with a numerical score of 7.74 and a rank of 35. In comparison US is ranked 20 with a numerical score of 8.05 and UK is ranked is 16 with a numerical score of 8.31.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index

You would think India is the pits if you go solely by the word of some of these pseudo intellectuals.

Treason, sedition and subversive activities are punishable by prison and / or fine in US too. The only thing we are trying to establish here is whether what was said at the rally was seditious in nature. According to the person you are currently arguing with, to paraphrase him/her, "even if people were chanting the ruination of India, it is my book still permissable". Bad grammar not withstanding, that was that person's stand from the very beginning. However, he/she did go to extraordinary lengths to paint it as "criticism" / "dissent". I wonder why. Probably lacked the cojones to prop up the very stand that he/she took.

I would ignore the ramblings and the sermons, if I were you.

Lol... definitely not anti nationals ... the video was doctored.
Hell, just because they have a different political ideology, they can't be tagged anti nationals.

Out of the 7 videos only 2 were said to be doctored. What about the 5 that were not?
Any political ideology that is against the good of the nation or anything that threatens to harm or break it is called anti-national.

I know what anti-national means . None of them prove that those students were from JNU. I completely agree that whoever was behind it is anti-national .
Plus, I don't understand how JNU is being defined in media and by ABVP. Isn't ABVP a part of JNU?

I don't wish to make it a political debate and include names of political parties in it but the list of institutes in which students have been harassed off late is long... HCU, IIT Chennai, ISI , JNU , University of Allahabad etc.

Not only students but some of the lecturers and professors have also come under scrutiny for alleged political affiliations and activism. If the teachers are involved it wouldnt be surprising that the students would get all the encouragement they need. Yet there were protests when the semester system was to be introduced in the universities as the teachers felt that time bound syllabus would be too much workload.

Let me try once again. India is not UK. We Indians don't care about what laws are there in UK. We have the right to decide how our country wants to deal with extremists or people sympathising with extremists. If someone doesn't like it, if that someone is Indian, then he has the option to vote for a party whose views matches with his own; if he is not an Indian, he can simply ignore India, it's that easy.

Heard it before on this forum. It suggests an attitude that India has nothing to learn from any one else on this planet. Very sad indeed!

there no issue in following or learning good from other nations policies even indian constitution consists good of other constitutions bt that doesnt mean that india starts following uk rules even if there are some similarities still its indians choice how they deal with the situation and think about it uk rules are made for uk not for india so let them be
