Twinkle turned the page frantically. Her eyes zooming across the inked letters, her sweaty thumbs soaking up the white pages, her teeth chewing frantically at the tips of her nails.
"Twinkle, what are you doing?" Kunj asked, lifting her arms up so that he could rest his head comfortably onto her lap.
"Sshhh!" She swatted at his arm. "I'm trying to read."
"You've been reading since morning! I think you've paid more attention to that book than you have to me for this whole week!"
"So? Do something interesting for once and I'll pay attention to you too. Now, shush!" She put her fingers on her lips to emphasize on her urgency.
"How many more pages?" He asked grumpily.
"15." She bit out.
"15!"
"20."
"You just said 15."
"I'll double it if you don't shut up." She threatened.
Kunj snatched the book from her hands, eliciting a scream for her lips.
"Give it back!"
"No!" He turned around and began to flip the pages towards the end of the book.
"Kunj, no don't!" Twinkle shouted, fearing Kunj's next move.
"'... and Kathy's heart slowed as the killer came before her eyes. The salty sweat mingled with her copper blood. It dripped down the side of her face, bringing the horror of the reality come to surface. She wanted to gag, shout, scream for help. Something. Anything. But she couldn't. She felt frozen underneath the killer's icy stares. Under her lover's beloved eyes. K- aaahhh!" Kunj shouted as his hair was being pulled out from the roots by Twinkle.
"Twinkle! Let go!" He dropped the book and tapped her hands repeatedly.
"No! How dare you ruin it for me!" She pressed her foot into the small of his back and tugged at his hair even harder.
"Twinkle!!" He shouted even louder.
With one swift move, Kunj grabbed Twinkle by her shoulders and carried her over his body so that she was now laying flat against the bed. He placed her hands against her chest to keep her from moving.
Bring his face down towards her, he said, "I'm sorry that I ruined the ending for you, but I need you right now. That book, those pages, those words, they will always be there for you to pick up at any given time. But I won't. My time could be running out."
Twinkle put her hand across his lips to prevent him from talking.
"Don't ever say something like that again." She brought his head closer towards her and gave him a short, sweet kiss. "Take all the time you want. But what you did was wrong. You shouldn't have done that." She spoke slowly, a small tear forming at the corner of her eye.
"I'm sorry."
"As am I."
Kunj placed his forehead against hers, and took a deep breath.
"Truce?"
"Truce."
She smiled.
"You know.. I was at the climax."
He grinned.
They embraced.
