***CONTAINS SPOILERS ***

In this film Jannat, Emraan Hashmi is a bookie, and the film claims to be inspired by real life incidents...

a part of the story line------
" n is whisked off to South Africa where he meets Don Abu Ibrahim * (Javed Sheikh) and becomes his key match fixer. Rolling in money and enjoying a fast life with Zoya everything is suddenly interrupted when the South African Police takes notice. Inspector Raina, who is now an ACP with CBI, is summoned for assisting the investigation. He is puzzled to see Arjun with the Don in South Africa. He pays Zoya a visit and informs her of Arjun's shady activities and how the money earned by match fixing is used by Abu Ibrahim to finance terrorism around the world. Zoya is furious and confronts Arjun leading him to walk out of the house. Zoya speaks to Arjuns father who verifies ACP Ajay is an honest man and most probably speaking the truth and requests Zoya to leave Arjun if she can't get him to change his dishonest ways. Arjun is called by Zoya to a restaurant where he is nabbed by ACP Raina as it was a trap to get him to confess his crimes.

Arjun is sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. Don Abu Ibrahim uses his influence to get him out of prison as the World Cup is nearing, and he plans to use Arjun's skills to make money out of betting and match fixing. Arjun is released in 6 months and he meets ACP Ajay outside who warns him to mend his ways again. Arjun tries high and low to search for Zoya, but she is nowhere to be found. He finally spots her working as an exotic dancer in a bar where he is discussing match fixing strategies with a known cricket player. Arjun and Zoya are re-united and she pleads with him to take up some honest employment. Arjun relents and starts working as a bar tender.

All is good for a while, and Zoya is pregnant. Don Abu Ibrahim visits him and promises him a big villa with 150 acres of land if he will fix matches for Ibrahim in the coming World Cup. .."""

here Emraan Hashmi openly talks about fixing the match with the captain of the Indian Cricket team

and when D.Ibrahim is worried that the captain is scoring runs, and India might end up winning it, Emraan calmly explains that he is the Captain of the team, he can't just throw away his wicket, as it would look suspicious, but rather score as much as possible and stay till the end but ensure that India never makes the winning runs as he will play his part to sabotage it.

obviously the Captain referred to here was Azharuddin(2008)

cut to Azhar (2016)

emraan Hashmi now plays the cricketer not the bookie,He takes the money,he scores runs, stays till the end and ultimately india loses those matches and apparently he gives back the money, and all this was a ploy so that no other Indian cricketer gets approached.

but then how did Ajay Jadeja happen?

how did Hansie cronje happen? what about his entire confession about the cricket match fixing ring that had engulfed world cricket that time..???

two films concerning the same individual both carry the same leading hero, yet one shows him as a villain and the other justifies him...

which one is the truth...???

and which one is just another way to make some money...???

Azher wud have been gud if they wud hv shown movie without siding Azher, they shud hv let the viewers decide whether to trust him or not...that wud hv been realistic ending instead of painting him as hero

Azhar completely white washed him as a hero but it still made no sense, rather if they would have just stuck to the facts, and let audience be the judge of him, and kept it real, the grey characterization would have appealed more and struck a note with the audience that even the most iconic people sometimes succumb to temptation , commit mistakes , they are not gods or mahatmas but human beings who have faulted...ex Shakespeare's Hamlet...greatest play of the anti-hero...he did become the villain but the greatness that was present in him was not lost even in his final moments...
