Hey!

So, Tammanah has already made it big in most of the South Indian film industries and is going great guns there.

She couldn't make inroads into BW with Himmatwala and Humshakals though. Why?

Is only a pretty face not good enough for BW?

Does she lack that X-factor or acting skills?

Or a hand over her head?

She has signed a Rohit Shetty film with Ranveer, so can she make it? Or are flowerpot roles just not enough?

She is also rumored to have been signed for the Hindi version of Oopire aka the French film 'The Intouchables' by KJO. If KJO takes a liking to her, then well, it will be a bed of roses for her.

No. I don't think she will succeed simply because I think BW audiences taste is different. They are more focused on looks especially in actresses. It is the reason Deepika survived a lean phase lasting years until she got her act together IMO because she is just so gorgeous. Kat made it on her looks when she cannot act to save her life. If it were more acting based people like Dhanush, Nagarjuna would have made it. When even the legendary Kamal Hassan could not make it, acting does not matter much though to be fair I don't think they pursued it much. But if it was more on acting, Tabu would be #1.
The South is focussed more on acting vs looks, but they love their ladies to be fair irrespective of how they look. If not Khushboo and Nagma who could never make it in BW were superstars down South though they were fat, but they were fair. 🤔

Really? In fact I thought BW audiences were a bit less focused on looks, 'cause they don't fall for the next 'fair' face they come by. Because if it's just looks, Tamannah is someone who is considered very good-looking all over India, isn't she?

For male actors, I think it's a bit different, 'cause the male audiences are egotistical and have this VERY strong need to identify with the man on screen. Male audiences do not accept male actors of different origins, be it South Indians not accepting North Indian actors or North Indian audiences not accepting South Indian actors.

South Indian film industries are also quite varied, for example, the Telugu film industry is very focused on 'fair and lovely' for female actors. Tamil too, but less so. Malayalam movies put less focus on looks. Don't know much about the Kannada film industry.

Yeah she is. I think Bahubali was a big hit. But she couldnt crack Bollywood. I think she was also in Entertainment the dog movie with Akshay? I find her pretty.

That might have been true in the 90s because you had people like Kajol, Rani succeed on the strength of their acting while people like Sonali Bendre, Shilpa Shetty failed IMO. This was around the time Nagma and Khushboo especially were on top down South. I don't for the life of me understand why Khushboo succeeded so spectacularly. I can only think fair for she did not even have a good figure. But then can anyone explain Rajni's career ?

Malayalam is realistic I agree. As for Tammanah's looks I don't think she is really that beautiful and her skin tone is helping her in the South, but not in BW IMO. She just does not have the sleek BW aesthetic a Kat, Deepika, Ash, PC have. There is just no USP there for BW. She does not have a god father to give her chances, KJO will give first dibs to Alia unless Tamannah can give him a 200 crore BO.

As for South Indian people not accepting North Indians, I am going to say not true. Nagma, Khushboo all started in Hindi. Hansika is Sindi right and Tammanah is definitely not South Indian. But I don't think anyone except Deepika and Ash from the current BW crowd are from the South though Deepika did not work in South to my knowledge. Ash debuted in Tamil if I am not mistaken. But Illeana, Asin all major stars down South and who are nice to look at did not make an impact in BW despite I think looking good, having a decent figure and acting as good as any actress in BW. Dhanush I did not expect to make an impact in BW for his looks will not fit in BW aesthetic even if he is a very decent actor and he is too big down South to be satisfied not being top tier in BW.

@bold- I thought she was ravishing when I first saw her in a Telugu movie, but the charm has faded, unlike some who look better with time. I think Hindi movies don't scrub her up as well as South Indian movies do.

Acting- Honestly, can't say whether she can act or not, 'cause not like Telugu movies provide any opportunities to act. 😆
