Acting- Honestly, can't say whether she can act or not, 'cause not like Telugu movies provide any opportunities to act. 😆

I think what she lacks is that spark that a heroine brings to a film..as you said her charm has reduced and she's seen so much in the south that I don't think anybody from there would be interested in watching her in a Hindi film

This was around the time Nagma and Khushboo especially were on top down South. I don't for the life of me understand why Khushboo succeeded so spectacularly. I can only think fair for she did not even have a good figure. But then can anyone explain Rajni's career ?

Malayalam is realistic I agree. As for Tammanah's looks I don't think she is really that beautiful and her skin tone is helping her in the South, but not in BW IMO. She just does not have the sleek BW aesthetic a Kat, Deepika, Ash, PC have. There is just no USP there for BW. She does not have a god father to give her chances, KJO will give first dibs to Alia unless Tamannah can give him a 200 crore BO.

As for South Indian people not accepting North Indians, I am going to say not true. Nagma, Khushboo all started in Hindi. Hansika is Sindi right and Tammanah is definitely not South Indian. But I don't think anyone except Deepika and Ash from the current BW crowd are from the South though Deepika did not work in South to my knowledge. Ash debuted in Tamil if I am not mistaken. But Illeana, Asin all major stars down South and who are nice to look at did not make an impact in BW despite I think looking good, having a decent figure and acting as good as any actress in BW. Dhanush I did not expect to make an impact in BW for his looks will not fit in BW aesthetic even if he is a very decent actor and he is too big down South to be satisfied not being top tier in BW.

About the acceptance bit, I was talking about male actors. There is very little successful crossover of male actors from North-South or South-North. Females are accepted because there is a patriarchal and tribal mindset operating which doesn't seem them as torchbearers of the industry. That's why most star kids' lineage comes from their fathers or star couples, not so much their mothers.

Women- There has been ample crossover between BW and TW. Vyjanthimala, Hema Malini, Jaya Prada, DP, Aish, Shilpa Shetty, Amrita Rao etc. Similarly, a lot of actresses in South Indian movies are North Indian. The male audience's ego accepts them but not male actors.

Khushboo- I think standards of beauty are also a bit different. In fact, I've heard one actress say that they don't like skinny girls in South India, so her plumpness could have been an asset for her. Might not be BW beautiful, but she was TW beautiful.

As for Tamannah- Yeah, she is a bit overrated in South India 'cause there is a huge fascination with her being fair. She is called 'milky beauty'.

For me, the charm faded 'cause she doesn't bring anything to the table but her looks and figure. Is not very impacting on screen and yeah, maybe because she has been a flowerpot for most of her career, she doesn't have that spark.

Oh yeah, she was also in Entertainment. Somehow fails to make an impact in BW.

Baahubali is just one hit in her kitty, she has had many.

Kajol went down South too. But DP is just born in the South, did she even act in any South industry ? I know Ash has. Did Hema do a South movie ? Did not know. But agree about Vjyanhimala. Also Padmini did Hindi films with Raj Kapoor too. I did not know Shilpa Shetty and Amrita Rao went South.

@Bold. See I am thinking of South actresses in 80s and 90s. Sridevi, JayaPrada, BhanuPriya, Radhika, Madhavi, Shobana, Revathi, Radha, Ambika, Amla, Nathiya. Many of them were classically trained dancers and so had very good figures. Shobana for instance or Madhavi. But most were either dark and beautiful like Madhavi and Bhanupriya or brown skin tone. No one was fat. Even Silk was dark and had a good figure. Khusboo was very fair and very fat too. So too Nagma though not as fat. South obsession with fair skin tone is ridiculous

DP's debut film was Aishwary- a Kannada film. Her first film ever.

Shilpa and Amrita were born in the South and acted in BW. Preetika Rao has done South Indian films.

80s and 90s- Yeah, that was a different era altogether.

I think it's a pan-India obsession, though it seems more pronounced in some industries than others. Even in BW, there is a threshold skin tone, anything above that and you're lightened or worse, never given a chance. The darker actresses are no longer dark.

I find her so irritating in Hindi movies...and surprisingly used to like her in SA ones..either its because of the movies or something else but can't bear her in BW movies.

She is just fair...that's all...she doesn't have the acting skill or the looks.
Totally overrated...Tamanna,Kajal Agarwal n Samantha all are same(but kajal is very pretty)
Ps: I am a south Indian from Kerala.
