"Kisi aur ko tang karne ka man nahin karta…"

-Dr. Armaan, Dill Mill Gayye, November 20, 2007

This is the story of the Beauty and the Bully…one that we can all identify with…one that we have all experienced…a fairy tale that is as much ours as that of those fantastic folks in glossy pages with golden hair and medieval clothes.

Remember that boy (he could have been your neighbour or your classmate, he probably is currently your colleague), the one with a bratty face, an impish gleam in his eyes, with his hair always in a state of disarray and energy that made you wonder if he was constantly on prozac…. The one that pulled your hair, pushed you down, took your things and hid them and laughed while you searched frantically for those prized possessions…the one who took such great pleasure in annoying the life out of you that you would have submitted to any wish of his just to be rid of his torture…the one who never had an answer when you beseechingly asked him what he wanted and why he bothered you so…the one who never shifted his incommodious attention to anybody else…the one who made you pray fervently every morning that you wouldn't have to face him that day…

Spare a thought for that devil today…

That scoundrel who made your life miserable, treasured you and your presence in his life greatly!! But he had no clue why you affected him so. His simplest solution, to the turmoil that you brought in his otherwise sane life, was to cause you as much discomfort as you caused him. He did not understand the complexities of his little heart that made him pay so much attention to you. But being the cool dude that he was, he obviously could not shower you with the interest he would have liked. But he could not deny his heart either…so the only remedy available was to irk you and get some reaction from you...any reaction...your tears, you stomping your feet in frustration, you threatening never to speak to him again...all of those just made him happier than ever before, because he had caught your attention, good or bad!!

All those of you who have ended up with your bullies know the fairy tale turn your life took. Those who dismissed them as nothing but troublemakers know that he still spares you a fond smile each time he flips through the year book or old albums and spots your face in a sea of others…

Aarti!! *sigh* What a beautiful and insightful post!! 👏 👏 👏

First off, Why are you calling me Anu nani, hmmphh?? 😆 I'll start calling you parnani then!! 😛

Ok, back to the post:

That dialogue by Armaan today was just soooooooooo sweet! 😳 ...and the way Karan said it 😍 😍...I guess I'll continue the mooning over his voice once Sareeta gets here 😆 😆

You're so right! We've all gone through, and sometimes continue going through this phase...That one guy who's always out to irritate you and get a rise out of you...Of course I, for one have never seen the romantic side of it...and as you've put it...prayed fervently that I never have to see the person in question at all ever again!

I'm definitely not one of the few who've ended up with the bullies...so your post makes me wonder if they truly do flip through old albums and spare me a fond smile.
Cuz I definitely did not take them seriously...and I did dismiss them as troublemakers, as you put it

Hmmm, you make me wonder...what if 😉 😆 😆

Hey ANu baby, am here... lets get mooning over the voice now honey!!! OOooooooooooooooooh.... How in the name of the holy lord, did he get such a voice? How ? How? Somebody tell me.... *goes off into dreamland*

And Aaarti .... yeah I did a have a devil of a friend like that who showered that kind of attention, that made me visit all the temples on the way to work that I dont bump into him!!! But well... I guess... now... we are best of buddies and the attention is jus the same and boy am I glad I ever met him!!! I never really gave the relation so much of a thought... and jus enjoyed the fact we are friends now, but reading your post now gave me a diff insight into altogether... I mean... I cant really express it... but it sure feels good to know... that I troubled the hell outta of him when he was troubling, albeit unknowingly... but I had done it to him!!! Muauahhahahahhha!!! 😈 So well... I am a nice gal... who got his attention!!! 😉

Sareeta, meri jaan!! Tum aa gayeeeee!! Time to go off into dreamland together! 😉 😆 😆

Oh god, yaar! WHAT voice modulation he had today, as usual! 😉 😆 😆 First off...the way he said..."I missed you Riddhima" 😍 😍...I was off into dreamland already...and then he just capped it off with that wonderful line, "Kisi aur ko tang karne ka mann hi nahin karta" 😳 😳 *thud* That's when I fainted 😆 😆 😆

Agar koi mujhse aise baat karta to main sab chhod chhad ke uski taraf bhaagi chali jaati!!

That voice is a lethal weapon, yaar! It should come with a warning label 😉 😆 😆

Anu: Exactly ... the way he said I missed you... I was like... Bang on the floor... and the final clincher was "Kisi aur ko tang karne ka mann nahin karta..." and my heart skipped a beat....

His voice is a lethal weapon I tell you....

If he or anyone spoke to me like that... or if those lines were ever directed at me ... with a voice like that... I'd be dead out of sheer euphoria ...coz my heart would explode !!! 😆

On a more serious note, you know Anu, what really gets my heart and has me swooning over that voice is how simply he says it... "I missed you Ridhima" nothing over the top... plain simple 4 words..but comes from the heart... oh I dunno how to say it... its jus too simple and seedhe dil pe ...!!! Haila....!!! Its possibly way to simply the way he says it... no drama , no tension, nothing... its jus your heart...

Even the way he said..."Ridhima.. I love you..." Awww man... I always hated those cliched words and thought them to be so dramatic and so filmy , but he made me realize.. how beautiful they can sound...

If I have even managed to sit through and listen to those words... its coz this man Karan Singh Grover uttered those words... jus the way they should be and he has probably defined for me, the way , they should be uttered to someone , you are in love with!!!

@ anu and sareeta....

i just swooned when i heard that line. had been dying to put this up since last night, but was too ill and tired to...

anu, i thought naani was sooooooooo cute, nahin? armaan called minnie naani...just the same term of affection!!

and guys, i haven't been forunate to end up with my bullies either, but hey, good thing is i do get them now!!! and trust me, i know they they still think of us and also smile!! cos while i may not be with any of them, but am in touch with a few. some who have admitted sheepishly that i was their first crush!!

so trust me...your bully liked you....even if he made your life miserable!

sareeta...that was the whole point cos i kinda went into a trance thinking about my childhood and those rascals...glad the post evoked a similar response!

Awww Aarti, if it's a term of affection, then I'm all for it! 🤗 🤗

Yaar...you're really making me rethink my childhood now! All those guys who irritated me so much, might have actually liked me?? Wow, it's funny how these things never occur to us back then...

Irony of my life: The guys I did seem to like never noticed me, and instead I seemed to only get the attention of the bullies 😆 😆 I even might have liked them back, if they hadn't been so damn irritating!! 😆 😆 😆

@Sareeta: Yaar, mere dil ki baat kehdi aapne! As usual 😉 All these dialogues are soooooo cliched otherwise! But when Karan says them 😳 😳

I'm glad you mentioned the "Riddhima, I love you" as well...He had my heart skipping a beat over that one as well 😳 😳

And you're so right about today as well...The dialogue "I missed you" was so simple otherwise, but the feeling and emotion with which he said them...Hai!!

If I was in place of Ridz, I would totally have either fainted or leapt into his arms 😆 😆
