"Kisi aur ko tang karne ka man nahin karta…"

This is the story of the Beauty and the Bully…one that we can all identify with…one that we have all experienced…a fairy tale that is as much ours as that of those fantastic folks in glossy pages with golden hair and medieval clothes.
Remember that boy (he could have been your neighbour or your classmate, he probably is currently your colleague), the one with a bratty face, an impish gleam in his eyes, with his hair always in a state of disarray and energy that made you wonder if he was constantly on prozac…. The one that pulled your hair, pushed you down, took your things and hid them and laughed while you searched frantically for those prized possessions…the one who took such great pleasure in annoying the life out of you that you would have submitted to any wish of his just to be rid of his torture…the one who never had an answer when you beseechingly asked him what he wanted and why he bothered you so…the one who never shifted his incommodious attention to anybody else…the one who made you pray fervently every morning that you wouldn't have to face him that day…
Spare a thought for that devil today…
That scoundrel who made your life miserable, treasured you and your presence in his life greatly!! But he had no clue why you affected him so. His simplest solution, to the turmoil that you brought in his otherwise sane life, was to cause you as much discomfort as you caused him. He did not understand the complexities of his little heart that made him pay so much attention to you. But being the cool dude that he was, he obviously could not shower you with the interest he would have liked. But he could not deny his heart either…so the only remedy available was to irk you and get some reaction from you...any reaction...your tears, you stomping your feet in frustration, you threatening never to speak to him again...all of those just made him happier than ever before, because he had caught your attention, good or bad!!
All those of you who have ended up with your bullies know the fairy tale turn your life took. Those who dismissed them as nothing but troublemakers know that he still spares you a fond smile each time he flips through the year book or old albums and spots your face in a sea of others…
