Ayan Mukerji's superhero project with Ranbir shelved

Nothing seems to be going right in Ranbir Kapoor's life and career at the moment. While his relationship status is at the moment uncertain, his career too is in search of a silver lining, what with his last four films under-performing at the boxoffice and his proposed next film Jagga Jasoos shrouded in uncertainty.

One now hears that Ranbir's ambitious super-hero film directed by his best friend Ayan Mukerji has been shelved.

According to a reliable source, "Producer Karan Johar no longer finds an Indian superhero film financially feasible since there are so many of them being done in Hollywood with much more resources at their disposal. Besides, Karan's friend choreographer Remo d'Souza is also directing a super-hero film with Tiger Shroff. So it's a no for Ayan's superhero film."

Ayan, who is very close to Ranbir, has so far delivered two successful films Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani with Ranbir in the lead for Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

Good decision. I don't see how it would have worked with HW already churning so many which are technically and visually much better.

Thank god...audience saved from another superhero disaster...poor Ranbir...I liked his acting but from no angle can he pull off being a super hero

This has been hinted at for weeks if not more in different ways, most of them basically saying KJo doesn't want to spend the money on this either due to genre or Ranbir's recent failures.

Superhero films are risky for Bollywood. The reason they successed in Hollywood is because most, if not all of them are based on incredibly popular comic books with decades of fan followings. Not to mention that no one beats Hollywood when it comes to special effects. Everything I ever read about this project seemed very cringeworthy starting with Ranbir as the superhero.

I dont think BW can really make superhero movies without lot of investment and its not possible to recover the investment from Indian market alone. Only few films have been good enough to be shown to the world. Also now Indian audience is exposed to HW movies and its not possible to pass off sub standard stuff. So its a good decision if they scrapped it. But Ayan, KJo and Ranbir were speaking about it even recently so I doubt the news is true.

There were rumors about Ayan dropping this project for he wanted to direct another YJHD type movie with Bira and Deepu.

EXCLUSIVE: It's Confirmed! The Ranbir-Ayan-Alia Superhero Film is Happening and Soon!

Recently, we read that Ranbir Kapoor's superhero film with buddy Ayan Mukerji is all set to be shelved. Buzz was that producer Karan Johar thought that an Indian superhero film would not be financially feasible. Well, however, there is good news on this front for Ranbir fans!

A reliable source informs us that the movie is 'very much' happening. Apparently, the movie is all set to roll towards the end of this year. While Alia Bhatt will be romancing Ranbir in this one, director Ayan is currently busy locking the rest of the cast.

Well, what do you think of that? Relieved or not?

Ayan had said in an interview earlier, "People are talking about this film from very long time. I have completed the script of this film. Finally, Karan Johar (the film's producer) has approved the script. I know Ranbir's films are not working right now. But it's okay. This is part and parcel of the game."
