Windows Movie maker! Download this one if you are using Windows.

If you are using apple desktop then iMovie.

Both software should allow you to create clips, join different clips, add Music over existing video (just that you need to mute the video clipping being used). Everything possible including ransitions between different clips, captioning, lyrics overlaying, adjusting speed of the video etc.
