Another major thing I would like to bring to your(Sun TV) notice is that...Its high time you guys put a limit to the number of Episodes that a serial can run!! We feel that it may bring out serials with better storyline which can be more entertaining and meaningful.

We feel that the so called creative heads and the directors take the viewers FOR GRANTED!! This is more so because of the support they get from the SUN TV Channel! Why should the viewers be subject to torture and be fed with garbage???

People all over the world are watching these serials, and it is not at all fair to them. One thing you guys have to remember is that ..these days there are plenty of choices for everyone, boring serials will only make people go to other forms of entertainment.

Even the sponsors for every serial should be strictly numbered. This will teach the producers to stick to the storyline and not waste everyones time.

In the fast paced enviornment that we live in...No one has the time or the patience to watch some meaningless sob stories running to hundereds and hundereds of episodes, that too depicting women as totally DUMB and WEAK, with no self respect what so ever. Channel people, wake up..Indian women have come a long way and now they are independent, spirited and have plenty of GUTS!!!

Don't you think that its HIGH time you guys do something???

Television is a very POWERFUL media... Please use it make some difference to the world and the mankind. Dont misuse it, coz it can cause serious damage!!

Where is teh letter?

May I suggest something. Let us keep the letter short and to the point. If we want to address the issue of how women are portrayed in serials, let us stick to that and not have too many extraneous issues. Then, for better impact, I suggest we send the letter to Sun TV but copied to the major Indian newspapers. This is becuase Sun TV is unlikely to act on a letter with some handful of signatures unless there is media attention.

Good idea.

But how far has the letter progressed? I also suggest that the letter be translated into Tamil. Roja, please PM me if you need any help. Do you live in KL?

Very well written. Our nation has diverse and talented good women, whose qualities do not get adequate portrayal on the small screen. A man never raises his hands in his life over a woman, rather argue in any way you want, or do anything that's fair. Just because some women are physically less ordained than men, it does not mean they do not have the same brains.
In order for all women to be emancipated, equality and justice needs to be done on the small screen. This action of yours will go a long way to achieving that goal.

Bon, am slightly busy and in India now -
will be back in HQ on 26th. Will get to
work on this after that. We shall compile
all our ideas and later make a concise report.
let us knock as many doors as possible - one
might open!!! Karthi, I live in Subang Jaya.
Thanks Jagdu, I do see from your posts that you
are as much annoyed as a whole load of us here -
we will take the first step - that will give us
the satisfaction of speaking our minds - at least!!!

Bon, I agree with you in that we need to stick to one point, but I feel that we could frame the letter as a protest against abuse, physical or verbal, against women, children or anyone. It is wrong for people to use abuse as a means to gain popularity, and that is what is happening in our serials. This is also a term which encompasses the physical abuse of women by their MIls, SIls, husbands and what not, children by parents, employees by employers (I am referring to the scenes of Abirami slapping her employees, Rekha slapping her manager, and so on). Television should be used as a media for entertainment and this is not entertaining. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any kind of censorship on these shows.

Roja and Karthika, thanks for taking the lead and speaking what is on our minds.

eljay,

I know it is tough for you to hear but ya gotta stick to one protest for women.
They are the ones who bear children "or anyone." Are cemtra. amd censors are doing little to protect their interests 😊 . If you connect other groups, govt. has little intelligence in differentiating issues and gets confused. Let Karthikaa take lead and keep the issues simple šŸ‘ .
