Let us add to the list MILs and SILs trying to get rid of the DIL for no reason other than the fact that the son chose his bride over their choice, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goal, including attempts at murder. When will they grow up?

Also, all this slapping should be stopped. I am tired of seeing MILs and SILs slapping each other. I was just seeing the teaser for Anjali, I have never watched the show, but all they showed was a series of slaps, a man slapping a woman, a woman slapping another woman, and so on. Disgusting! Makes me want to turn away from the TV altogether.

Even DIL's abusing MIL/FIL, Abuse of women for Dowry,
Portraying women as silent sufferers. Comedy serials can be given more importance (Good comedy..not some sloppy kadi comedy!!). Serials should also not demean autistic, physically and mentally challenged people. They think its funny...but I think otherwise.

I agree. It is not funny to make fun of handicapped people. If only we knew the challenges they face daily, we would appreciate them more, but as long as they are the butt of jokes on TV, when will our children ever learn? DILs abusing MILs and FILs is also not welcome.

If you thought domestic violence was on the wane in India with the rise in education levels, take a look at these hard figures. Over 40% of women in a nationwide survey reported being beaten by their husbands at some point of time. More shockingly, around 54% of the women surveyed thought that such violence was justified on one ground or the other.
This is an excerpt from the Times of India - today's paper. No wonder they think it is justified, when that is what they see on TV.

I am totally in for this cause.

Roja Akka, First and Foremost - "BAN KOLANGAL" and "KASTURI"

They are showing women as door mats....I hate it. Now its followed by anjali.....if in anjali then dont get smart then that too 😉 just kiddin....

They should also stop showing ugly arrogant asses like KP, gives a wrong message to kids...that they can become schemesters and have their way.

Yep, its time we took action against this issues. May be we should write to the Channel Censor Councils.

Hi
The directors also make a fool of us by suddenly changing the characterisation of the actor. I mean they show someone as very nice, affectionate and hardworking.....suddenly just because they want to add spice to the serial, the same person becomes an alcoholic, lazy and abusive.
No one changes like that in real life.
For example that Aarthi character in Kolangal...she was shown as a brilliant student, worker etc.But now why is she doing nothing but stay at home and complain and cry?

Wow...Caryn ...that was an unbelievable story in Malayasia, but were the kids Indians or some other nationality?

Of all, CJB is demeaning women to the max...i don't understand a woman being beaten up by her husband, FIL, servant. Its so unbelieveable.

They are all Indians Nitipp. Most of the people / school nearby are Indians.

Agreed Nits. It is so demeaning esp a servant has more right than the husband and permission to beat up the wife. Outrageous.

Btw, my sister thinks CJB must be a henpecked husband, that is why he is showing women as low life in all his serials. Sorry guys. I do not mean to say that, but CJB must understand how we feel that he is demeaning womenfolks.

Lots of points are tabled in this thread. I am so happy about it. Bravo everyone.

Now, we need to find solution for this. By removing abused scenes doesn't make things go away. Like Eljay said, the statistics given is alarming and women taking blame for themselves...!!!! This needs to be addressed.

So how do we go about it? I recently read an email that a girl in India was abused by her mother inlaw and the family including her husband. The girl could not take it anymore. So what she did was, she walked only in her underwear through the streets in the city (if I am not mistaken in Mumbai) to the police station where she made a report against her MIL. The MIL and husband were arrested immediately. But I don't know what is the outcome of the arrest/or the woman.
