Right from childhood I think she has played second fiddle to chakor. Chakor seems to be the mothers favorite. Chakor had the best of friends . Chakor was always given more importance and was always more glorified than imli. It is but natural for a child to feel inferior under these circumstances
Kasturi blatantly puts Imli down all of the time. Kasturis anger at Imli being a bandhua is justified but she must understand that imli is as much a victim of circumstances as she and others are. To exonerate herself and other villagers as victim of circumstances but then find fault with imli for being a bandhua is very unfair.To change imli needs a lot of love from kasturis side and not abuse and constant comparison with chakor.
Imlis anger at chakor running away is justified,imli thinks chakor ran away for a better life leaving her and that combined with an inferiority complex has contributed to imli not liking chakor.
When chakor commented on Imlis dressing it was actually in bad taste. The mother instead of helping imli is only driving her further away by her words and actions.
She fell for Suraj Becoz he seemed to be the only one who gave her importance, shared her dislike for chakor and never compared her with chakor all the time though he did it for selfish reasons
So actually when imli behaves rudely with chakor I don't hate her
I feel sorry for imli
