Uff here goes principle today. Yesterday we saw the attack on freedom. And today we see principle attacked. Interestingly freedom is attacked by outside people, but principle, principle is attacked from inside. His own father and brother calls Adarsh a loser just because he refused to bend rules for some businessman they favour.
Yes I had expected it. While freedom has to battle outside, principles fight will start from inside only. Yes he has the values. But what use is that values if your own family is going against those values and you cannot do anything about it. How can you cleanse the society, without cleansing your home. Safai ghar se shuru hoti hai.
And it also opened up a leaf in Singha household. Yes Suhasini has values, the same values more or less Adarsh has inherited. But even Suhasini has allowed her husband and elder son to indulge in practices that are not right. So her raising voice against Ahuja in a way looks like hypocrisy.
Kind of retaliation of her son marrying Ahuja's daughter against her wishes. Or it can also be in such a way that Ahuja floats the rules publicly, whereas Adarsh dad and brother does it subtlety. So Sachai in front of society, but burai behind is acceptable for Suhasini. Problem is only when burai comes in front of society.
You can do anything behind the four walls but nothing should spill outside. Is that the values on which Suhasini Singha has build her family. It is not enough you take the right cases, you have to ensure that your family practices what you preach. And sadly it seems all among the family only Adarsh is walking the talk. And poor fellow he is attacked at home itself for not being Ambitious.
Having ambition means floating the rules, if you don't float rules you cant be ambitious. Valid question of today episode. To be frank it is a very thin line. Adarsh cannot further his career without taking favours. But the question is when to take favour, when to give favour. He needs to have connect with powerful people even if he needs to cleanse the system. Right kind of power that can help him in his journey has to come to him. He has to learn the art of making deals that are both beneficial to him and beneficial to society.
Adarsh has to learn one key thing. He needs to have power and wealth, because the problem with principle is that they abhor wealth and power and thinks that those things corrupt you. No. To make society listen to your view point. To show you can have a fulfilling life with wealth and power even if you follow principles Adarsh has to respect wealth and power the right way. And the path to that weath and power is through freedom through burning and through dirt.

Very good analysis Shruthi.
But I am just curious to know what his mom thinks. Is she like Adarsh or like his father who just wants to win without caring about the truth.

@ bold in black I too am intrigued by how this is going to plan out. Is Suhasini turning blind eye to her husband and son's lack of morality and using their power to get their work done. There's definitely more to it then what meets the eye in Singha household.

@ bold in pink Somewhere I think it's been easy for Adarsh to maintain his values while reaching upto a certain position due to his parent's standing in the society. It would be a test of time for him to find a way to maintain his integrity as he works through the bureaucratic system where he will find more people easily comprising on their morality rather than working their way up.

@viji Suhasini of course will know what her hus is doing. It is not something that will be hidden from her. At this point she is not openly confronting Manohar, at the same time is being a cushion for Adarsh.

@Halkat yes Adarsh has to know that he didn't had to struggle much to become IAS because of wealth and power. Whereas students are struggling outside even to complete high school studies. He needs to understand the difficulties when you are on your own, when that line will come to haunt him. I don't take favours and I don't want favours. Life never works like that. You have to give and take. And there are ways to give right way and take right way also.

Well said...
The situation is rampant everywhere and at every situation...nowadays, it has become the norm...being 'clean' is considered foolish, immature and not ambitious. However, without give and take, the world does not function. What you and and how you take...matters. Can be idealistic and still survive

Yes Jazzy. How you give, whom you give and how you take matters. Sometimes a small help rendered to a normal man can ensure you get vital information from him.

I'm probably gonna sound way too typical or escapist (😆) but then I feel it becomes necessary to carry a sense of idealism when it comes to handling subjects like bureaucracy in daily serials. Coz obviously the way things work in reality are way too twisted and complicated. The definitions of efficiency in reality when written on paper or portrayed on screen might look somewhat unconvincing.

Sometimes the line that differentiates honesty/ dishonesty and efficiency or inability to hold on to your ideal principles is very difficult to determine and draw. There's heavy political influence and way too many powerful hands indirectly taking part in the smallest of decisions in smallest of Govt org. Giving and receiving favours is probably very common but then even if you make sure that they are the right and benefitting favours, you cannot really be sure that they won't be used against you at another point of time, when are you totally sticking on to your guns or that it'd definitely turn out to be in the best interests of public, in a given scenario.

For everything to be portrayed in a realistic manner, it'd require the makers to venture into grey areas and move beyond the accepted definitions of 'right' and 'clear' in entertainment duniya. It'd also require a lot more detailing about the working style of the male protagonist and also the profession itself, so that it looks convincing enough.

This serial doesn't seem to be aiming at that, it has been pretty clear that it's a breezy and idealistic take on these professions. But I completely get what you are saying, they can ofcourse add a tinge of reality in the idealistic scenario and I'm somewhat sure Adarsh would be facing many such dilemmas in the future but even then the solution would be pretty idealistic and proper sounding. Or at least I hope so, otherwise won't take no favours at all, sounds way too far-fetched. 😆

Ignore the rambling, if it makes so sense or looks like it came out of nowhere. 😆

@kappi I very well understand what you are saying. I guess in some other post I have mentioned the same thing. Line between good/evil is very thin and I also want grey. It cannot be black and white for God's sake. Without grey it will be unrealistic. Adarsh and Swadeenta will have to venture into grey. And the script has to handle deftly why the grey was required.
