On a serious note, is it its weekend collection that makes it such a disaster or its weekend collection with respect to its budget? Which then begs the question, why put so much money into a movie that's not for everyone anyway? From the trailer it actually looks like a very beautifully made film.

Guess they banked on Katrina's star power to pull them through. Also the film is getting labelled as niche after the release but I didn't hear anything like that during the shooting or promotions. Since the genre is romance, story stems from a well-known classic and they had mainstream actors they may have thought that it would appeal to a large audience.
