Res Unres:
Dearest sis Viji 🤗
Even what you term a drabble is so well crafted and worded, it reads better than so many fuller pieces. Belated Happy Valentines Day to you although I know we exchanged greetings anyway over scraps too!
I loved the glimpse into Swara's early years and the difference between her and other girls, drawn out though the funny reference to an admiration for Hrithik's attributes was very nicely portrayed. As we know, anything Greek inspired is bound to appeal to me and here Meraki is brought into play so nicely. Effectively, I always see Swara as someone who lives this- she does eventing with all her heart and soul and with the purity of intention that is also implicit in that word despite not being directly translatable, and I am talking the Swara we see, not the one they don't show on the show! And oh the irony of how she gave all to those who were so undeserving in their way, and the one she withheld it from for so long, being the only one capable of returning all she gave with his own brand of meraki, even more striking in a way than hers 😃
As usual, excellent description of the garden and the flowers- makes one want to sit there enjoying it! I love the realisation from Swara that it's perhaps the gardener rather than the garden who has the main attraction 😉. The whole description of her changed feelings and how they came about, including the physical awareness was very nicely done indeed 👏.
Ahh and then that whole scene with the delicious gardener holding the delicious treat 😳. I used to love FRocher until I had the shock realisation that I couldn't eat them as they are not strictly vegetarian so them sharing that here let me enjoy it vicariously! Then of course the whole conversation- him as usual totally attuned to her and wanting to make the world right for her and his amazing reassurance, given without any hesitation, that he will NOT let her fall and I particularly liked the reference to saying he would fly off with her. Not only will he prevent a crash to the earth, he can take her to heights she never dreamed of! The hug being the perfect gesture and am so glad they both enjoyed the comfort and other awareness it brought and again your re-working of the dialogues so masterfully was lovely to read. I especially love the reference that he looks at her akin to worship- that is how I often see the way Sanskaar sees Swara! And the sweet and simple ending was just right too.
As usual nice touches with the quotes and I see The Far Pavilions quoted 😳 as well as my all time fave Mr Wilde. The Mill on the Floss also brought back some strong memories of childhood love for literature!
Lots of love and hugs for yet more lovely nuggets sis.
Love you xoxo
