Yes, the film will possibly break the usual Friday release stereotype and release on July 3...

Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma have started shooting for their film Sultan together and YRF has kept all fans updated about the status of the film. While the producers have been unveiling pictures of Salman and Anushka from the film after periodic intervals, we have now heard about something very interesting.

It was always reported that the film will hit screens this Eid. But there was no particular date mentioned. Now, we have learnt that Sultan might break the usual Friday stereotype and release on a Sunday.


We hear that YRF is planning to release the film on July 3 which is a Sunday. Now if this turns out to be true, this will be a makeover shift from the formula that all Bolylwood films follow. But then again, the film will have a bigger window at the box office and this might help it multiply their collections at the box office.

And who knows, if the film turns out to be a blockbuster, we might have other big actors too trying out the same trend henceforth.

I don't understand Friday releases in India. Traditionally India has holiday only on Sunday. Saturday holidays have started 10-12 years back. There is no concept like Weekend per se, in India. All schools and most colleges and offices are open on Saturdays...

A Sunday release will give any movie a bumper opening. Friday -Saturday bad WOM affects movies and they fail to capitalise Sunday holiday, unless movies are good.

Sultan and Raees releasing similar time, no matter 1 week apart or what.. both will be effected...

It's not an Official confirmation So it can't be true . It might be tentative date which will be changed later on . They might release it on Last Ramdaan Day like all Salman Eid movies .

I would rather have the clash between two superstars than a superstar and a younger actor...where unnecessary hype is created for one movie to put the other down...atleast there will be no under dog here which will get unnecessary support from all quarters..

I smell a foulplay here by Excel and Red Chillies. They booked screens for Eid 2016 and officially announced on 16th July 2015 that Raees will come on next Eid. Since then, Bollywood ungama reports Raees release date as 3rd July 2016.

Now YRF officially annunced on 23rd July 2015 a week later. But they would have realised about screen bookings by the opposite team just now. Also that they have listed for 3rd July. So YRF have been forced to release on same date or else they could have chosen 6th July the Eid day or 1st July Friday. but they had no choice since Raees is slated for unusual 3rd July Sunday.

I think the clash will definitely happen now and both will be majorr underperformers certainly though one of them might be heavily affected if by chance the WOM is mixed to negative with not so good reviews.
