I honestly feel like it is. Now, I am not necessarily talking about Item Numbers, but I feel like Mainstream actors, especially the females are lagging behind. I know most of them cant dance, but if you tried hard enough you can improve (ex: Katrina)
For the girls, there was what...2 successful main dance songs? Chittiyan Kalliyan and Sun Saathiya? Really cant remember anything else.

I know its a different day and age but I miss the days of Madhuri-Sri-Karishma- Ash where in almost every movie there would be a proper dance song. Nowadays I feel like actors are too lazy and want to "get by"

Even the Dance Performances at Awards Shows have deteriorated and become boring and stale.

I love what Katrina has done in Fitoor😊 contemporary freestyle ...She is a very good dancer...But yes dance has become a rare sight or situational nowadays most of the times...content is getting more importance...but I liked Indian cinema then and like it even now ...

Like this one??😆

On topic.
There have been some dance songs...like Kamli, nagada sang, pinga, deewani mastani

We just need more graceful dancers..
I so wish we had Madhuri dancing to mohe rang do lal from BM or a tango on Janam janma

Ok BW need better choreographers too😆

And bring traditional dance forms like chhau,bharatnatyam...kalaripayuttu(though martial arts)
These are my fav😳
