Swayamvar a woman's choice Ram

I guess I don't have to talk about competition part. Already talked about it in posts yesterday. Though I didn't put yesterday Personally I was little bit disappointed with Ram. That he didn't request janaki whether he can lift the Dhanush. Because real difference to me between Ram and others was asking for Janaki's choice. I was wondering how maryada purush missed it or was I wrong. Today Ram proved me right by highlighting Sita has a right to reject. Biggest thing men need to know. A woman has a right to reject. She has a say in the marriage as much as him. She is not a trophy, but going to be his wife. Hence he requested her freewill to accept him as her husband. I have heard that Panchali rejection of karna was the reason she got insulted in public. Please at least after hearing Ram today stop such comments. It was Krishna who directed her to exercise her choice. And what she did was according to swayamvar dharma. I am happy today. Thank you Cvs for making Ram speak that important message

I absolutely agree with you Shruthi in this.. that women also have right to accept or
reject with her free will and I just loved how beautifully makers gave this message
through non other than Ram.. & also gave true meaning of Swayamvar.. 👏
Today each and every dialogue had the message for society and I really think people
should watch today's epi. as it will enlighten you 😊

Shruthi, I missed your post yesterday. It's like the cvs give an important message and then you always pick it up and reinforce it beautifully. The two - episode and then your post are so intertwined that your post completes the episode.

I totally agree with u. I liked the BG of maryada purushotham when Ram told Janak to ask Sita's concern. Beautiful directorial touch.

Also, the whole thing implies that Sita accepts this Swayamvar with all its conditions. She is sitting amongst everyone willingly.

So Rama didn't have to ask her permission to lift the bow since its given.

Also, there are lot of open ends(from today's sensibilities) in Ramayan as it is a product of time. If makers start closing all of them and paint every situation according to today's sensibilities, there is no originality left.

This is exactly what I've been trying to say. Makers are destroying the originality of Ramayan, and removing all the subtlety that makes the epic so special and mystical. None of the characters are subtle. They ask everything in each other's face, they state everything that's already evident.

I repeated the same in Arshi's thread. we can move to that one.

@shanti sita sitting there is accepting swayamvar condition. She is not even going to say no if requested. But asking her shows a man's maryada and understanding of the term swayamvar. It is just an acknowledgment of her choice. Yes we need dialogues now because people need to understand. People knew it then not now. In a society where woman are shot point blank for saying no, acid is poured to disfigure for saying no the message is needed. Point has to be driven home.

Panchali case was really different. She humiliated Karn based on his birth. That's why Karn took revenge. in MB, the one who ordered to bring Draupadi to court was Karn not Dury.The one ordered to strip her was Karn , not Duryodhana. She could've been tell that she wanted to marry a Kshatriya but she told That She wouldn't marry a suda. Heart broken Karn left the place.
