Oh so Madhuri made Raja a hit because of her stardom right?...Because the actor was new and script was shitty.?...so please explain to me why her stardom couldn't save films like Mohabbat (Akshaye Khanna who was also a newcomer)...what about Wajood? No big hero's in that film, but it was still a flop.

Forget new hero's, Madhuri has had BIG FILMS WITH BIG ACTORS and those films have still failed such as:

Mahaanta - with Sanjay Dutt
Aarzo - with Akshaye Kumar and Saif Ali Khan

And what about Yeh Raaste Hai Pyar Ke? Which still had a big hero like Ajay and Preity as well - what happened there? Where did her stardom go?

And what happened to her so-called star power when she did films with that didnt have a hero?...Lajja, Gaja Gamini, Aaja Nachle, Gulab Gang, Dedh Ishqiya?...What happened?😆 What excuse are we going to use now? at least Sridevi's comeback was successful. But i would love to know what reasoning will be created for Madhuri-ji.

Aishwarya Rai is indeed a superstar and no doubt about that.

However, on another topic. As usual, this forums pulls down Madhuri. But the fact is, she was much bigger star that Sridevi ever was. And it doesn't need rocket science. Of course, Madhuri and Sri used to be center of attraction in their films. But Madhuri had Superhits, blockbusters and one ATBB during her peak. As for Sri, she only gave hits and some superhits. Madhuri's films used to be some of the biggest grossers of respective years while Sri's films were just being hits. Also Madhuri was considered the MOST Beautiful actress and that was one of the biggest reasons of her popularity apart from her chartbuster songs. Sridevi was just another beautiful face and was surely not the MOST beautiful. Also beauty and songs play bigger role in actress's success that ACTING and it's not hard to find who had upper hand here.

As for the comeback, no one even remembers Sri right now. And despite doing third class work nowadays, as per this forum, Madhuri is far more relevant today than Sri. Madhuri is still very popular while no one cares for Sri in real world.

Its funny how in Ash's case BOI is disregarded, its the so called bible when it comes to other stars, so why in Ash's case its always wrong? 😆😆

Also, For someone who was VERY into Bollywood in 2000 it seems like you are HORRIBLY misinformed!

So you're saying that Ash was nominated for the sake of being nominated? And that everyone and their mama got nominated 😆😆 What nonsense, do you want to know who was nominated at the awards that year?

Tabu - Astitva
Madhuri- Pukar
Karishma - Fiza
Ash - HDAPH
Preity Zinta- Kya Kehna

^ Look at that. Everyone and their mama got nominated ? Really? The above named roles are considered one of the best roles of the all of the nominees. All very strong roles, How can you even say everyone and their mama got nominated? That just shows how LITTLE you know! Please double check your facts!

?? So what are you trying to say?? Everyone and their mama DID get nominated. And plus with your "facts" you didn't negate the fact that it was NOT a big hit. 🥱

It was an average grosser that was dragged by the critics for the director's attempt at rehashing HADMRH. And as far as nominations are concerned then 2000 was such a crappy year in Bollywood history that everyone and their mama got nominated.

But anyways, people who think Aishwariya is not a superstar are clearly biased.

For someone else who was VERY into Bollywood in 2000... you are right. HDAPH was not a big hit and didn't do well with the critics either. I didn't like it tbf too.

But 2000 was certainly not a crappy year for female lead performances. In fact it had some of the strongest performances of the decade. Karisma'a portrayal in and as Fiza is still remembered today as being not only one of her best but one of the best in history. Tabu's Astitva stands in equal galore. Madhuri's act as Anjali is probably one of her best roles ever. It's highly underrated. She was marvellous as the scorned lover turned foe turned life hero. And then there was Preity's bold portrayal as the pregnant out of wedlock student in Kya Kehna.

However, when the nominees were announced, I was surprised Aishwarya was there. I would have gone with Shilpa Shetty in Dhadkan instead as the 5th nom. Or even Rani in Bichhoo was amazing.
