.......or rather a complain actually but u guys would have never clicked had i written "A complaint...."😆 This question has been bugging me for quite a time now but after reading today's epi it has made me even more impatient to know the answer😳😆

Now the million dollar question is........

The filling of a woman's maang with sindoor by a man makes the couple FULLY wedded????😕 I DO NOT intend to hurt anyone by askingquestion but what these people show on TV is such bull😡 why are they making fun of our religions and rituals like this?

This has not only happened in kasturi but in other shows and movies as well as personally I find it very hard to digest😡 Why do they show such crap??? Why can't they show the WHOLE ritual instead of just filling the maang and then pronouncing the couple married??😕 As far as I am aware there are many more rituals related to hindu marriages so why can't they atleast show they'll be following all the rituals😕

I don't belong to a hindu family so I don't really know whether I am making a valid point or not😳 but I DO apologize if asking this question has Offended ANYONE😳 Believe me that wasn't my intention😳

No dear, you have not offended anyone and this time I agree with you, what is shown on TV is a lot of absurdity!!!

Filling of maang is only a part of the marriage ceremony. It is a very important ritual and symolises the woman's suhaag. But no way it is equivalent to getting married!!!

I don't consider RK married today. He has just expressed his intention by filling her maang. I am positive in the near future an actual wedding will be shown, either in the temple or a registered/court marriage or something of that sort.

JK😛,

U need not ask sorry for such simple knowledge seeking Qs yaar😆😆...

As for me, I think Maang bharnaa is THE most important part of the marriage. And I do agree tat 7 pheras, putting malgalsutra are also part of it.

It all depends on wat things people believe in, Sometimes, people think tat maang bharna is enuf to say tat they are married. And its not wrong also. Some people just put mangalsutra without any pheras, this doesnt mean tat they are insulting marriage traditions or rituals.

According to me, If i believe tat maang bharna defines marriage then yes, no harm in doing only tat. It again ends at individual's perception😳 And it also depends on the situation too, In the serial, obviously Robbie cant have a ready made Mangalsutra and fire there to have a full fledged wedding, So he chose sindoor for time being😆😆.....But the most important thing to be noted is Robs did this in the temple in front of the god.... So, as for me, these kinda things do not insult the rituals and traditions😛

OK are we talking about a wedding or a marriage? 😊 I agree Kekta's concept of wedding is really medieval

I know I am digressing from your question, but really wanted to add this to the equation.
Personally I don't think any of it the sindoor, the mangalsutra, the saat phere define a marriage - they are just wedding ceremonies; you really can do without any of that.
My parents never went through any of the Hindu festivities - all that defines their marriage is a legal certificate - it doesn't make them any less married. Does it?

For me marriage is when 2 people decide to spend their lives together and support each other through happiness and suffering. For me a live-in relation counts too – all that is different is that you don't file your taxes together.

What Robbie did was just signaling his intent to the world - In his mind he was always married to Kasturi coz he had joined his life to hers for eternity whether she wanted it or not.

On a more practical note, would I consider myself married if someone dumped a handful of color on my head or forcefully tied a thread/garland around my neck? Hell no!!!!!!! The world around us is progressing - I wish Kekta's writers would come out of their 500 years old bubble too. In a way I am surprised they dont show sati.

great question JOT i'd like to say that divorce in on the rise regardless of race, religion. when i was a kid i swear you could count on one hand how many kids parents were divorced, today in my daughter class its easier to count on one hand how many kids dont come from broken homes, its a sad reality... so all this showy marriages and parents going into debt to give their kids their dream weddings is simply ridiculous...and wasteful, i feel that a true commitment is felt from the heart, the amount one being is willing to sacrifice for their luved one for marriage is nothing but a constant give and take, and robbie has shown his extent of commitment to kasturi he has never weavered from his feelings, yes he's hid them in anger but never did he really stop luving her.so really does one really need the blessings of a rabbi, preist, mullah, pandit to sanctify ones marriage? i dont think so, for God is omnipotent and knows what lies in ones heart!!!!!

forget sindoor and other rituals....the most important thing (and to me it is more important than saat pheres and maang mein sindoor), is registering the marriage...all these rituals do not give legal legitemacy to a marriage, and what can be more important than legal legitemacy...I think most rituals (whether marriage rituals or otherwise) are more emotional bonds to ones tradition and the past...some are good and entrenched in meaning while others are antiquated and could be done away with. Most serial makers (not only ektaa) make a joke of the institution of marriage anyway by getting the main characters involved in multiple marriages and multiple love affairs. But I am probably digressing here...

I think filling kasturi's maang was symbolic....I doubt if it tantamounts to marriage...but since it is an important ritual in the whole wedding process, I guess people (atleast the chawlas) will not stop an actual marriage between the two???? But kasturi is still wearing Raunaks mangalsutra...she has robbie sindoor in her maang and is wearing raunaks mangalsutra...what should we call her - a 'progressive' thinker??? I find this a greater violation of the rituals and symbols of marriage!
