Thanks for sharing the article Minu, and what a wonderful discussion you all have been having.
So many variations of Ramayana prove that it's always being adapted and dynamically changing to meet the cultural and social ethos of time and place.

I think, there's so much good being shown in this version, and so much to learn and absorb, that we should sit back and enjoy it.

End of the day, a TV show will be TRP driven and will need to be populist, but if the dignity of the epic is maintained and the chronology of the main events is not distorted, interpretations are ok

One thing that is correct with the argument is that there are different versions of the narration. For example kaikeyi is shown to have an objection for Ram becoming the King even before he gets married. In South according to kamba ramayan, she doesn't harbor any such thing. In fact when mandara tells her about Dasgarath's decision she feels immensely happy and rewards her. I have also heard another version in which, kaikeyi comes to know of a dosh or a shraap that the life of the King of Ayodhya was going to be in danger for a few years to come. And because of her immense love for Ram, she asks him to go to the forest for fourteen years and return after that, sacrificing her own son in the process. But Bharath's devotion for Ram saves him and Dasharat dies. Long story short, yes there are different versions. Which also implies that the authora of the alternate versions have also taken creative liberty or if I may say (influenced by the life histories of so many sants whose devotion has drawn the Lord himself to give them Darshan) must have had divine visions which guided them to write what they write in their versions.
