Mumbai: In the past few years, Bollywood has emerged as one of the richest industries with addition of glamour and a lot more boldness. But in these years, one thing that remains same is the problem of casting couch faced by the upcoming stars in the industry. Even after completing so many years, Bollywood is still struggling with the dark issue of casting couch.
Many celebrities have in the past faced casting couch, some confessed while others remained silent over the controversial issue.
Let's, have a look at some famous casting couches of Bollywood.
"Bajirao Mastani" actor Ranveer Singh recently revealed his experience of being witness to casting couch. The actor called it a common situation for strugglers. Recalling the incident, the actor said that once he was invited by a casting director to his home in Andheri. "I had worked as an assistant director and I knew that there are no takers for 500-page portfolio. Mine was very impressive and people were intrigued enough to at least take a look at it," Ranveer said. He said that the man told him that he should be smart and sexy to enter the glamour world of Bollywood. Ranveer was advised to be open to "take and touch." "Later I got to know what he was interested in. When I said no', he was heartbroken like a jilted lover," the actor said. Gunday' actor later discussed this issue with other strugglers, and came to know that they too faced the similar situation.
Next in the line is the "Kya Super Kool Hai Hum' actress Sarah Jane-Dias who faced casting couch and called it an insulting and hard situation for any celebrity.
Bollywood melodious singer Sonu Nigam admitted that he himself faced casting couch. He once accused Journalist and film critic Subhash K Jha of making sexual harassment attempts. However, later Jha in his articles hit on Sonu for the confession made by the singer which brought the journalist a lot of criticism.
"Taare Zameen Par" actress Tisca Chopra also faced casting couch moment in her life and accepted that both male and female struggling stars face the same in Bollywood.
"36 China Town" star Payal Rohatgi targeted "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy" director Dibakar Banerji of doing casting couch with her. She accused Dibaker that he once asked her to take her clothes off during an audition for a role in "Shanghai".
Well, we hope that instead of exploiting the upcoming stars with casting couch, Bollywood should pay more attention to real talent!
