Chapter 2
It is late in the evening when everyone on the cruise is busy at the party; crowd holding their drinks were cheering and enjoying, dancing to the tunes of some of the best music belted out by the DJ.
But back in her suite, Ragini Patel is annoyed as now she is back with the man she hates the most. The same man whom she once loved the most.
"Yeh kya tha Ragini? Thunders Pam who has walked into Ragini's room with some serious questions.
"Itna shor kyu macha rahi ho Pam? Kya kiya meine!" Ragini replies feigning ignorance.
"Kya kiya hai tumne? Jangliyon ki tarah lad rahe the tum dono sub ke saamne and you're saying kya kiya hai meine!" Pam cried out.
"I can't stand Nachiket, Pam. Uske saaye se bhi mujhe nafrat hoti hai"
"Oh toh Tum nafrat bhi karna seekh gayi Ragini Patel?"
"Time seekha deta hai sab kuch Pam" Ragini replied in a serious tone.
"It's been 3 years Ragini since you both separated, for God's sake!"
"3 saal hon ya 25 saal Pam, I never want to see his face again."
"Whatever Ragini! But abhi joh hua that was pretty childish to be honest. Bacche nai rahe ho tum dono..bade hogaye ho so stop acting like kids! It's time to move on!" Pam said and stormed out of her room.
As Pam leaves Ragini falls on her bed and blames Nachiket for coming back to her life and reopening her old wounds. With her wet eyes she goes back in time, cursing the day when she first met Nachiket.
Flashback
It's the first day at college. The campus is buzzing with the chirpiness of new students who are excited and a little nervous, trying to get done with all the formalities when they are distracted by a caravan of SUV's surrounding a luxurious car.
Everyone looks at the car in excitement as they have never seen such this model before. All the eyes are fixed on it as the driver comes out first to open the door for his Boss's daughter, the cute and gorgeous, Ragini Patel.
But before Ragini can come out to share the first glimpse of her angelic face, her friend's aka sidekick's barge out to her car and mutter peaking inside,
"Stop! Ragini Baby abhi bahar mat niklo car se, bahut kadak dhoop hai... Driver wapas chalo hum kal weather dekh kar decide karenge ke Ragini Baby college aayengi ya nahi"
Driver agrees to turn around towards the Patel's mansion but is stopped by none other than Ragini. As she steps out, all heads turn towards this girl, The Ragini Patel, who was born with stunning looks. Her adorable twinkling eyes, her dazzling plus show stopper smile or the thick yet soft black hair made her a beauty that would make every head turn in appreciation. The guys' stare and the girls' jealous eyes attract the attention of her chamche type friends who immediately warn Ragini to be careful. She ignores them.
"Aarey wait!" One of her friends cries out as they try to pass a crowd, "Body guards ke beech me se chalo Baby" she cautions.
Ragini walks to the principal's office. As she is about to enter, an unlucky geeky student lost in his own world unknowingly crosses her path, almost hitting her. He attracts the ire of her security guards and yewww type of comments from her friends. One of her bodyguard grabs the poor thin guy by his collar, raises his hand with an intention to show him his class until it is blocked by Nachiket Khanna, 'the savior of defenseless'.
"Haath chod mera" the bodyguard yells.
"Kyu maar rahe ho usse" Nachiket said looking into his eyes.
"Is ladke ne jaan bhujkar hamari madam se takrane ki koshish ki hai"
"Toh tumhari Madam kaunsi Hoor Paari hai?" Nachiket fires off.
"Teri yeh himmat!" The body guard cries out and tries to punch Nachiket only to get a perfect block defense from Nachiket in return.
"Agli baar aisi galati soch kar bhi nahi karna aur chod uss ladke ko!"
Taken back at the sort of bravado, they look towards Ragini who gestures them to release the boy. Satisfied at the way things got sorted out, Nachiket tries to walk away without looking at Ragini who stops him,
"Bahut himmat hai tumme Mr?"
Nachiket turns around, "Yeh to trailer tha? Agar uss ladke ko dhakka bhi dete toh puri film dikhti tumhe!
"Ziada hero banne ki zarurat nahi hai! Do you even know mein kis ki beti hoon?"
"Jaanta hoon!"
"Good that you know. Isliye apni auqaat mein rehna Mr. whatever warna sidhe is college se rusticate kawra dungi!"
"We'll see, Miss touch me not!"
"How dare you call me that, you Mr. Sadak chaap?" Ragini yells at him.
"Toh kya Girlfriend kahu tumhe?" Nachiket grins.
Ragini looks at him angrily, "Dekh lungi tumhe" she mutters. And then ordering her security staff to follow her she leaves college in a huff.
It was pretty evident they hated each other on the very first day of college, but to the surprise of everyone they became besties in just a week..and soon they were madly and deeply in love with each other. Everyone around knew of their passionate love. They just simply couldn't live without each other. But never had they imagined their journey which started off from the first day of college would come to an end as soon as the college ends.
Somewhere on the same cruise RK is looking for Nachiket who was not in his suite. He looked for him everywhere and finally found him in the dark corner of the bar with a glass of drink and a wry smile on his face. Nachiket's smile disappeared upon seeing him.
"Bhai I am really sorry... Aj jo bhi hua uske liye mein sharminda hun" RK expresses his guilt sitting opposite him.
"Aarey tu kyu sorry bol raha hai R.K?"
"Na tu meri zidd par aata hai aur na yeh sab hota"
"Teri galati nahi na hi Ragini ki... Galati toh meri kismat ki hai" Nachiket says coldly.
"Bhai magar yeh kab tak chalega aisa... 3 saal hogaye hain aur tum dono aaj tak aage nahi badhe ho. Mein tou yehi kahunga ke try to patch up..kismet ne acha mauqa diya hai tum dono ko."
"Kaisi baatein kar raha hai yaar tu. Can't you see hum dono ek dusre se kitni nafrat karte hain. We just can't stand each other!"
"Bhai jahan itni nafrat hoti hai wahan pyaar bhi hota hai."
"Humein dekh kar tujhse kisi angle se lagta hai hum mein pyaar hai?" Nachiket questions with a serious face.
"Dekh bhai, woh sub mein nahi jaanta. Mein sirf itna jaanta hun ke you both were madly in love with each other. Yaad hai tum dono ek dusre ke bagair chand ghante nahi reh sakte the..tune apni kitni meetings cancel kari thi Ragini se milne ke chakar mein. And look at you abhi, dono corporate slaves ban gaye sirf apna gham bhulane ke liye. But dono aaj bhi wohi atke hue ho.." RK gets up from his seat, "Second chance sub ko nahi milta bhai. So, just think about it." He pats him on his shoulder and leaves.
Nachiket sits there thinking over RK's words. Tum dono ek dusre ke bagair chand ghante nahi reh sakte the..tune apni kitni meetings cancel kari thi Ragini se milne ke chakar mein.
Flashback
Nachiket is blowing his car's horn frantically. He had to meet Ragini half an hour ago but he was stuck in this traffic for the last twenty minutes. Due to his busy schedule they had not been able to spend some quality time together so he had cancelled one of his client meetings to meet Ragini. His phone is continuously beeping but he doesn't answer the follow up calls as he knew that his sweet pie is tired of waiting and is now an annoyed flame pie.
After about an hour he finally reaches the park where his Ragini is waiting.. he buys a rose bouquet for her and a water bottle to sprinkle on his face to get a sweaty look. He runs inside and sees Ragini who is silent. Nachiket looks upwards towards the sky and calmly strides towards his love.
"Mumbai ki traffic bhi na... Jitni tareef karo kam, kya haal bana diya mera... Ragini k Handsome Nachi Baby ko dirty Nachi baby bana diya" Nachiket shouts to make it real.
Ragini *silent*
"Dekho mein kya laya hun tumhare liye Ragini" Nachiket takes out some gift packs.
"Black dress... Bilkul hot lagogi... A classy watch as promised... Waise toh tum already sweet ho Ragini but phir bhi Chocolates... and the best one... rose bouquet for the rose that is you" Nachiket adds on smiling broadly.
Ragini looks away.
"Sorry kaha na... Mein traffic me stuck hogaya tha... itne time baad sahi se time spend karne ko mila hai. Please ab has bhi do Ragini aur yeh rose bouquet toh accept karlo" Nachiket pleads holding out the rose bouqet.
Ragini smiles, accepts the bouquet from Nachiket only to bash him with it by shouting "Itna late karte ho aane k liye, mein kabse tumhara wait kar rahi thi yaha par"
"Ouchh... Kehraha hoon nah traffic mein phass gaya tha"
Ragini furiously responds "Woh sab mujhe nahi pata... Tumhe bas aana tha on time"
"Tum bhi toh late aayi ho kai baar... meine kuch kaha kya... oops Sorry" The words were out from Nachiket's mouth before they could have been avoided.
"Kya kaha tumne?" Ragini shouted at the top of her voice before hitting him again.
"Ouch... Damn" Nachiket cried holding his eye and it immediately draws the attention of Ragini.
"Dikhao mujhe" said guilt filled Ragini.
"Nahi rehne do"
"I didn't mean to hit you this bad Nachi Baby... I am sorry" Ragini apologizes blowing air into his eyes.
"Tum bhi na Ragini" Nachiket sighed.
"I am sorry Baby" Ragini holds her ears.
"It's ok Ragini... Sorry bolne ki zaroorat nahi hai"
Ragini bends forward and kisses his eyes and his face repeatedly.
"I never knew that beatings can be this nice" Nachiket says greedily.
"You are very naughty Nachi Baby!" Ragini laughs hugging him tightly.
The glass slips off Nachiket's hand and shatters into pieces on the ground bringing him back to the present. He gets up and walks away.
The next evening
Nachiket and Ragini arrive at yet another flashing party with a resolution to avoid the other at any cost.
Nachiket as usual sits in the bar and Ragini stands in the other corner catching up with her friend, Pam.
Sitting alone for a while he starts walking towards Ragini only to greet Sheena who was standing just behind her,
"Hey, beautiful!" He bows down to kiss her hand.
"Call me Sheena!" She smiles broadly at him.
"Yes, of course. How can one forget the name of the most beautiful lady on the cruise? Btw, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm.."
"The Nachiket Khanna." She cut him before he could finish. Nachiket is a little surprised. "Sheena ki nazron se koi handsome chehra chup nahi sakta, Mr. Nachiket Khanna" She said poking his chest.
Nachiket smiles stealing a glance at red hot Ragini. He smiled inside and continued flirting with Sheena stealing glances at Ragini occasionally who is trying her best to ignore. Nachiket was so enjoying this.
"God I seem to have lost my manners." Sheena cried, "Nachiket, please meet my silent friend Ragini, I guess tum mile ho kal but today this is official" Sheena introduced Ragini to Nachiket. "Ragini, this is Nachiket."
"Hello, Ragini," Nachiket extends his hand. Ragini looked at him surprised, but then she shook his hand accepting the challenge. Both looked into each other's eyes for a split second before abruptly ending the handshake.
Her hands are still so soft and her touch.. still has that effect on me. Nachiket thought.
Ragini, however was kinda shocked. Nachiket's hands were rough and she couldn't help but worry.
Nachiket, tumhare haathon ko kya hua hai? Itne rough kyun hain??
Baby, when I work out hard nah tou rough hojate hain.
So, why you do workout ziada, haathon ki haalat dekho. Promise me you won't do it again?
I'm sorry baby, lekin jab mein tensed hota hon tou I tend to pump out more iron. But promise phir nahi karunga.
Ragini is lost in her past when she hears Nachiket's voice, "May I have the pleasure to dance with you?" He is holding out his hand to Sheena.
Sheena takes his hand and before Ragini could react they were already on the dance floor. Nachiket ko jiske saath dance karna hai kare, mujhe koi farq nahi padta! She tells herself and looks away only to look at them after a couple of minutes.
They were dancing to some romantic music. Their bodies were almost touching; Nachiket's hand held her waist and her hand placed on his heart..looking deeply into each other's eyes. Ragini couldn't stand the sight in front of her..she angrily walks to the bar and orders drink. She is joined by Sheena after a while,
"Omg, Ragini! Nachiket is too good. It was the best dance ever!" Sheena exclaimed.
Ragini stood silent trying to control her anger.
"And he is such a gentleman..the way he touched me and his eyes..one could just drown in them." Sheena was excited, she takes a glass of drink from the bartender and continues, "Weise he seems to be interested in me too. We were this close..I almost kissed his stubble." Ragini was having a hard time controlling her feelings but Sheena went on, "You know I called him Nachi Baby and.."
That was it. Ragini was no more listening to her. She had already lost her patience and before she herself knew it she had thrown the drink in Sheena's face.
"What the hell is this Ragini? You b...!" Sheena cried out.
But Ragini was already gone. Nachiket who was watching them from a distance was left shocked. He knew about Ragini's anger but this was totally unexpected. He went after her,
"What was that Ragini??" He demanded.
"What?!"
"Tumne Sheena par drink gira di! I don't believe this!'
"That's none of your business, Nachiket."
"Sheena is my friend and you shouldn't have done that."
"Oh haan mein kaise bhulgayi, Sheena tumhari special friend. Itna chipak chipak kar joh dance horaha tha!" Ragini said raising her voice.
"That's none of your business, Ragini!" Nachiket cried out.
"Well, that's none of your business either!" Ragini gave him back.
"Right, mein bhul gaya tha ke kis tarah tumne mujhe apni zindagi se nikaal phenka tha 3 saal pehle, The Ragini Patel, daughter of wealthy businessmen, The Heman Patel!" Nachiket fired up.
Touched by harsh words of Nachiket and also by the mere mention of the past, Ragini's tears started to follow rapidly.
For the whole world, Nachiket is known as a stone hearted guy, but that's not the case when he is up against an emotional Ragini. Realizing that he went a bit far with his words and disappointed with himself, a closed fist Nachiket looks at the sea and mutters "Yeh ro na band karo, tum jaanti ho k mein tumhare aansu dekh nahi sakta no matter what."
"Nahi"
Though Nachiket was heavily drunk too, he adds "Tumne zyada drink kar hai Ragini, Sambhaal nahi pa rahi ho apne apko"
"Apologize first Nachiket for breaking my heart" Ragini demanded
"What"?
"Meine tumhe apni jaan se zyada pyaar kiya aur tumne mujhe dhoka diya Nachiket" She took backwards steps, leaning close against the railing.
Taken back as Ragini was talking about their past, Nachiket replies "Agar meine kuch kahunga toh tumhe yaad bhi nahi rahega Ragini... You need to go tum pehle apne room me jao."
"Nope"
"Tum aise nahi maanogi Ragini" Nachiket thought... He grabs Ragini's hand to take her back forcefully to her suite, but feels a hard bite on his hand.
"Ouch, Kata kyu Ragini" Nachiket cried out rubbing his hand to ease out the pain.
"Acha kiya tumhare saat" Ragini said smiling.
"Theek hai yehi raho, mein ja raha hun!"
"Jao Jao Nachiket... Tum pehle bhi mujhe chor kar chale gaye the, abhi bhi ja sakte ho...Mujhe koi farq nahi padhta." Ragini calls after him.
"Haan bilkul mujhe koi farq nahi padhta" Nachiket replies walking away. But after taking a couple of steps, he turns back out of concern for his past lady love, but realizes in utter shock that Ragini has disappeared from the deck.
He runs towards the railing looks down in horror to see that Ragini had fallen into the sea. Without a second thought, Nachiket jumps off for his love. He grabs a hold of Ragini who was about to drown... He tries to swim back towards the cruise...but the Cruise is gone.
