CH-10

Finally the day of singing competition arrived. Swara, Laksh, Sanskaar and Ragini all were feeling very nervous. They took the blessings of their elders and left for the college.

In the college, all the students wished them all the best. The singing competition started. All the contestants were performing very well. Shruti and Vicky opted out of the competition as Shruti fell ill. Finally it was Laksh's and Swara's turn to perform on the stage. All was going well. Swara who was singing got nervous and forgot the lines of their song. Laksh covered up for her. Still they managed to perform very well. The crowd cheered for them.

At last it was Sanskaar's and Ragini turn to perform on the stage. They came on the stage. Ragini looked at the crowd and got scared. Sanskaar started playing his flute but he did not hear Ragini singing. He looked at Ragini and saw that she was looking very scared and nervous. He hurried towards her and said "kya hua Ragini?"

Ragini replied "Sanskaar yahan itne saare log hain main inke saamne gaana nahi gaa paongi." Sanskaar tried to say something but Ragini ran away from there. He followed her to the dressing room and said "Ragini kuch bhi ho humein perform karna hi hoga." Ragini replied "Nahi Sanskaar main itne saare logon ke samne perform nahi kar paongi. Mujhe bahut dar lag raha hai."

Suddenly Mrs.Neeru came and said " yeh kya kar rahe ho tum log? Jab singing competiton main perform nahi karna tha tab participate kyun kiya?" Sanskaar replied "Madam Ragini crowd ko dekhkar thoda sa dar gayi hai. Aap chaliye hum log aate hain."

Sanskaar tried to calm down Ragini but still she was very nervous. She refused to perform on the stage. Sanskaar felt very angry and caught Ragini's hand. He forced her to come on the stage. For few minutes, Ragini did not start singing. The crowd started yelling at them. Then Sanskaar decided something in his mind and held Ragini's hand very softly.

Ragini was looking at the crowd. Sanskaar held her chin and moved her face towards him. They both looked at each other for few moments. Then Sanskaar said "tum gaana jaroor gaogi. Par jab gaana suru karna tab logon ki taraf mat dekhna. Tum meri ankhon main dekhna."

Sanskaar started to play his flute while looking at Ragini. Ragini was also looking at Sanskaar. Slowly all her fear was gone and she started to sing. Sanskaar also started singing.

While singing the song, Sanskaar and Ragini kept looking at each other.

They both ended the song together. They were lost in looking at each other. The crowd started to clap. Ragini and Sanskaar got back into their senses. The crowd was cheering for them. They managed to perform very well.

Then Mrs. Neeru came on the stage with other contestants. She said "aap sab logon ne bahut acha perform kiya hai. To iss competition ke winner hai Sanskaar and Ragini."

After hearing this, Sanskaar and Ragini hugged each other. Mrs. Neeru presented them the winning trophy. Laksh, Vishal , Swara and Vicky congratulated them for winning the singing competition.

Ragini got back into the dressing room and saw there a small gift meant for her. She opened the gift and saw a very beautiful bracelet and a note stating "Tum meri sabse achi dost ho. Sabse achi dost ke liye sabse acha gift 'Sanskaar." Ragini smiled. Sanskaar who was watching all this from the door came and tied the bracelet around the Ragini's hand and said "Bahut Khoobsurat lag raha hai ye bracelet tumhare hath main." Sanskaar and Ragini was about to hug each other when Lakshh, Vishal , Swara and Vicky came in and took them out for the celebration party.

CHAPTER 11

As the time passed, the friendship of Sanskaar and Ragini grew stronger. They used to share their every joy and sorrow with each other. Their friendship was like a thread which can never break. They shared all their secrets with each other.

Mean while their exams were coming near. They were having 10 days holidays to prepare for the exams. Everyone was preparing very hard for the exams except the handsome hunk Sanskaar Maheshwari. He was not preparing for the exams. Ragini told him to prepare for the exams but it was her only advice that Sanskaar never followed.

One day Ragini, Sanskaar, Swara and Laksh went to the collage to collect their admit card for the exams. They met all their friends in the collage. Vishal and Sneha told them about the 'Youth Ball' which was going to be held in their collage after their exams. They all forgot about the exams and started discussing about the Youth Ball. The upcoming Youth Ball thrilled them very much. They all were very excited for it.

One evening, Ragini was preparing the dinner, when she heard Parvati Dadi ,Shekhar and Sharmistha talking with someone and laughing. She came out and saw that it was Sanskaar who was talking with them. Dadi saw Ragini and said "aaja Ragini, Sanskaar tujhse milne aaya hai. Usse tere se koi kaam tha."

Ragini stared at Sanskaar and said "tumhe mujhse kya kaam tha?" Sanskaar replied "arre tum to mujhse aise baat kar rahi ho jaise ki main tumhara koi dushman hoon. Ab main tumhara guest hoon to tumhe mera welcome karna chahiye. Mujhse chai ke liye poochna chahiye hain na!!!" Shekhar ,Dadi & Sharmishta laughed.

Ragini understood him and said "thik hai main abhi tumhare liye chai banakar lati hoon." While she was going in the kitchen Sanskaar said "thik se chai banana kahin sugar dalna bhool na jao." Ragini got irritated and decided to teach him a lesson.

Ragini went into the kitchen and prepared a cup of tea for Sanskaar. Then she mixed 5-6 spoons of sugar in the cup and stirred it very well. She came out with the tea and served it to Sanskaar.

Sanskaar took the cup and took the first sip of the tea. He realized Ragini's prank but he did not said anything and smiled to himself. He glared at Ragini who was smiling and waiting for Sanskaar's complaint about the overdose of sugar in the tea. But Sanskaar drank all the tea and praised Ragini's cooking skills. She was surprised to hear him praising her. She thought "Sanskaar sari chai bina kuch kahe pigaya. Par maine to usse bahut jyada sugar dali thi. Phir usne kuch kyun nahi kaha?" Ragini was lost in her thoughts when Sanskaar called her. She came out of her thoughts and looked at Sanskaar. Sanskaar said "Ragini main tumse notes lene aaya tha."

Ragini went to her room to take her notes and Sanskaar followed her. After taking notes from Ragini Sanskaar said "Ragini main tumse kuch poochna chahta hoon. Sab log Youth Ball main kisi na kisi ke sath ja rahe hai. Mujhe kam se kam 100 ladkiyon ke phone aa chuke hai jo mere sath ball main jana chahti hain. Par main unke sath nahi jaana chahta. Kya tum mere sath Ball main meri partner banke chalogi?" Ragini was shocked to hear his proposal. She thought for few moments and got an idea to make Sanskaar study for the exams. She said "thik hai main tumhare sath Ball main chaloongi. Par main tumhari partner tabhi banoogi jab exams main tumhare 80% above marks aa jayein. Agar bet accept hai to bolo warna un 100 ladkiyon main se kisi ek ko haan keh do."

Sanskaar understood her plan but he accepted the bet and said "Sanskaar Maheshwari kabhi koi bet nahi harta." and left from there smiling. Ragini thought "Ab Dekhte hain Sanskaar Maheshwari tum ye bet jeet pate ho ya nahi."

CHAPTER 12

Sanskaar started to prepare for the exams. It was not that he wanted to win the bet but he was keen to take Ragini with him in the Youth Ball. He was working very hard to score well in the exams. He almost spent his 2-3 days studying all the time. He did not even interacted with anyone very much.

Ragini did not saw Sanskaar for almost 2-3 days. She was feeling very tensed for Sanskaar. She was wondering where is Sanskaar. She also felt angry as Sanskaar did not talk with her from past 2-3 days. She grew very impatient to see Sanskaar.

One evening, she went to the Maheshwari's house. She saw Annapurna, Laksh and Uttara sitting in the hall and chatting with each other. Uttara saw her and said "Ragini tum yahan? Aao baitho." Ragini questioned her "di, Sanskaar kahan hai?" Uttara answered her "Sanskaar apne room main hai. Aajkal to wo bas study hi karta rehta hai. Exams ke liye itna serious maine use first time dekha hai." Ragini said "main abhi usse milkar aati hoon." Uttara smiled at her as she knew that Ragini is worried about Sanskaar. She knew that Ragini love Sanskaar dearly but have not realized till yet.

Ragini entered in Sanskaar's room. Her eyes were searching for her best friend. She saw that Sanskaar was sitting on a chair with his head resting on a book of the table. She went near to him. She saw that Sanskaar was sleeping. She smiled at Sanskaar and ran her hand over Sanskaar's hairs. She got lost in staring at Sanskaar. Then out of her mind, she kissed him on the cheeks and then stared at Sanskaar for few moments lovingly. She turned away from Sanskaar and was about to leave the room when she heard Sanskaar's voice "Ragini!!!" She stopped at the spot. She was shocked to hear Sanskaar's voice.

At the moment Uttara came in their room holding three cups of coffee for Sanskaar, Ragini and herself. Ragini breathed in relief as she saw Uttara. Uttara said "main tum dono ke liye coffee layi hoon. Socha ki tum dono ke sath kuch der baatein karoon." Ragini replied nervously "Nahi di, mujhe ghar jana hai. Main to Sanskaar se notes lene aayi thi. Sanskaar mujhe mere notes de do." Sanskaar gave back her notes and she went out of his room as quickly as she could. Uttara sensed something wrong but chose to keep mum at the moment.

While returning to the home, Ragini was wondering whether Sanskaar was awake when she kissed her on cheeks. She thought "Agar Sanskaar jag raha hota to iske bare main mujhse jarur poochta. Thank god wo so raha tha." She was surprised at her own behavior and questioned herself that why she kissed Sanskaar on cheeks.

Sanskaar was studying in his room. He was feeling so tired that he went into sleep while studying. He was sleeping with his head resting on the book when he felt someone's presence near him. He felt someone caressing his hairs. He smelled the person's perfume when the person bent over him to kiss him on the cheeks. After smelling the perfume, he instantly realized that the person is none other than Ragini. He opened his eyes slowly and saw Ragini going out of his room. He called Ragini and before he can say anything to her Uttara came in his room. He did not want to discuss this recent incident with Ragini in front of Uttara.

He kept quiet and took his cup of coffee from Uttara. While returning notes to Ragini, he felt that Ragini is nervous and avoiding to look at him. He was shocked at Ragini's behaviour and felt still very warm on his cheeks where Ragini kissed him few minutes before.

CHAPTER 13

Sanskaar wanted to ask Ragini that what made her kiss him on the cheeks but he did not get the courage to ask Ragini about it. He thought that Ragini might get angry from him after he questioned her. Did it happened only due to friendship or is it love? Sanskaar looked at the watch and realized that he should study otherwise he will lose the chance to go in the Youth Ball with her.

All the students worked very hard for the exams. They all gave their exams and was waiting for the results impatiently. All the papers that Sanskaar gave went off very well and he was expecting very good marks this time. He was very sure that he will win the bet.

Finally, their results came out. Sanskaar, Ragini, Swara and Laksh went to the college together to see their result. They met Shruti, Sneha, Vicky and Vishal there. They all wished 'all the best' to each other and proceeded towards the result list.

First of all they checked Ragini's result. Ragini got 90% marks and topped in the class. Laksh got 85% marks and came second in the class. Shruti, Sneha , Vicky, Vishal and Swara got their marks above 70%. They all were very happy with their marks. At last they checked Sanskaar's result. They all were very shocked to see that Sanskaar got only 60% marks. They all knew that Sanskaar worked very hard for the exams. They all felt very sad for Sanskaar. Sanskaar after seeing his result became very sad and left from there quietly. They all got back from the college. Sanskaar went to his room all frustrated and broke a flower vase in frustration and yelled. 'Why this happens only with me?' Sanskaar thought angrily. He was feeling very frustrated at his result.

All the day, Sanskaar kept quiet in the shock of loosing the bet first time in his life and not getting good marks up to his hard work. Annapurna, Uttara and Laksh tried their best to cheer up but Sanskaar remained sad.

Uttara was very sad to see his brother in such a condition. She loves Sanskaar more than her life. In the evening, she called Ragini and said "Ragini, I know about the bet between Sanskaar and You. He told me few days ago about it. Sanskaar is sad as he lost the bet. He really worked very hard for the exams. Please do something to cheer him up. I can't see him like that." Ragini who was also feeling sad for Sanskaar all the day nodded in agreement and said "Sanskaar kahan hai Di?" Uttara replied "Wo terrace par hai." Ragini left from there.

Sanskaar was still thinking about his result on the terrace when he felt someone's hand on his shoulder. He turned back and saw Ragini. After seeing Ragini, he felt guilty of loosing the bet from Ragini. He turned his face away from Ragini as he did not wanted to face her and said "Ragini tum Yahan? Koi kaam tha kya?" Ragini understood the feeling of Sanskaar and made him turn towards her. She said "Sanskaar meri ek request hai. Apni dost ki baat to tum manoge na?" Sanskaar nodded in agreement.

Ragini held Sanskaar's hand with her hands and said " Sanskaar maine jo bet lagayi thi wo to sirf isiliye thi taki tum exams tum exams ke liye study karo. Mujhe pata hai ki tumne iss baar bahut mann lagakar padhai ki hai. Aur main tumhara hard work dekhkar bahut khush hoon. Life main kabhi kabhi aisa hota hai ki jo hum wish karte hai wo humein nahi milta. Isiliye result ko bhool jao and cheer up Sanskaar." Sanskaar smiled and hugged Ragini and said "Thanks Ragini. Jab meri best friend mere sath hai to mujhe kisi baat ka dukh nahi." They broke apart after few moments.

Ragini said "To Mr. Sanskaar Maheshwari, kya aap mere sath 'Youth Ball' main mere partner bankar chalenge?" Sanskaar nodded in agreement and smiled. They were talking with each other when Sanskaar got a call from Vicky. Vicky said " Sanskaar jaldi se college aa jaa. Pehli result list galat thi. Ab jaakar sahi result list notice board par lagi hai."

Sanskaar and Ragini hurried for the college. They went to the college. Sanskaar checked the results again, Ragini got 92% marks, Laksh got 88% marks. Vicky, Vishal, Swara got 65% marks and Shruti and Sneha got 70% marks. After seeing other's result, Sanskaar turned away from the result's list and closed his eyes fearfully. Ragini saw this and said "Kya hua Sanskaar?" Sanskaar replied "Ragini mujhe darr lag raha hai. Tum mera result dekho aur batao ki meri kitni percentage hai?"

Ragini checked the result and stood in front of Sanskaar all looking sad. Sanskaar saw her and understood and said "Mujhe pata tha mere ache marks aa hi nahi sakte." Sanskaar became frustrated. Ragini placed her hand on Sanskaar's shoulder and said "Sanskaar jo main batane jaa rahi hoon use suno. Tumhare 96% marks aaye hain. Tumne class main top kiya hai." Sanskaar was shocked to hear this and said excitedly "kya? Main first aaya hoon? Maine bet jeet li? Ab tum mere sath 'Youth Ball' main chalogi naa?" Ragini nodded in agreement all smiling. Sanskaar hugged her. It was the happiest moment of his life. Now Sanskaar was waiting for the 'Youth Ball' impatiently.

CHAPTER 14

Sanskaar was walking for a past few hours and reached at a very beautiful place. He saw a girl and ran towards her. The girl also began to run away from him. Sanskaar caught her hand and said "Aaj to tum mujhe bata do ki tum ho kaun ? Main itne dino se tumhe follow kar raha hoon. Tum kaun ho?" The girl said "I am the girl whom you love the most. You love me."

She turned towards him. Sanskaar saw her and said "you? But I don't love you." The girl said "No Sanskaar you love me. That's why you are following me from so many days." Sanskaar said "No. That's not true." The girl said "ok just close your eyes and I will count from 1-10. While I will count from 1-10, you should not think about me. But if you began to see and think about me in your mind then you love me." Sanskaar closed his eyes and the girl counted till ten. Then the girl said "Open your eyes. See what I told you were true."

She laughed loudly. When Sanskaar opened his eyes, he did not saw the girl anywhere. Sanskaar woke up from his dream and looked around. It was morning and he was in his room. He thought "I must talk to her now."

Finally the Youth Ball arrived. Ragini was busy in selecting one suit for the Youth Ball when Swara came in her room and said "Kya kar rahi hai, Ragini?" Ragini replied "Di main bahut confuse ho gayi hoon. Samajh main nahi aa raha ki kaun si dress Youth Ball ke liye thik rahegi." Swara laughed at her confusion and said "You are not going to wear any dress from this collection." Ragini replied "What? Then what I am going to wear di?" Swara smiled and gave Ragini a large gift packet and said "Open it." Ragini opened the gift and saw that it is containing a beautiful red gown and an awesome pendant. Ragini looked at Swara and said "Di you know that I don't wear western dresses."

Swara said "No, you should wear this dress otherwise I will not talk to you. I bought this dress only for you." Ragini smiled and said "Thanks Di, Okay I will wear it." Swara replied "Don't you dare to say thanks to me. I am your sis." Ragini and Swara smiled and hugged each other.

In the evening, Sanskaar got ready for the Youth Ball. He was looking very handsome in black Armani suit. Uttara came in his room and looked at Sanskaar. Uttara said "Kiske liye itne ready ho raha hai Sanskaar?" Sanskaar replied "Di aap bhi na." Uttara said "Acha sun aaj party main kisi na kisi ladki ko jarur apni girlfriend bana lena. Waise bhi aaj tujhe hi saari ladkiyaan dekhengi. " Sanskaar said "Di, you know that I am not interested in this kind of matters." Uttara teased him "par Ragini main to interest hain na." Sanskaar looked at her for few moments and then ran out of the room saying "di I am going. See you later." Uttara smiled.

Sanskaar called up Ragini and said "Ragini tum ready hokar college aa jana. Main tumhe Youth Ball ke entrance gate par miloonga. Swara ko bhi apne sath le aana." Ragini agreed.

Ragini wore the gown and got ready for the college. Swara was calling her to come out from past half an hour. When she came out, Swara began to look at her continuously. Ragini said "kya hua di?" Swara replied "tu bahut achi lag rahi hai Ragini. Aaj bachkar rehna ladkon se." Ragini smiled and said "di tum bhi bahut achi lag rahi ho blue gown main." Swara said "acha, chal chalte hain warna late ho jayenge." Then they both left for the college.

Sanskaar was waiting for Ragini at the entrance gate of the Youth Ball. Laksh, Vicky and Vishal joined him and offered him a drink. Sanskaar who was feeling quiet thirsty began to drink it.

Ragini and Swara entered in the college and proceeded towards the entrance gate of the Youth Ball. Ragini was searching for Sanskaar. At the moment, Sanskaar looked at Ragini , he spitted out the drink from his mouth on Laksh's face. He apologized to Laksh. Ragini and Sanskaar both looked at each other and started walking towards each other. Sanskaar was continuously staring at Ragini. Ragini was looking gorgeous in the red gown. He was bowled by her beauty. Ragini was also looking continuously at Sanskaar as Sanskaar was also looking very smart.

They both got lost in looking at each other. Then Sanskaar out of his mind questioned Ragini "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi?" Ragini replied "haan." After getting back into her mind, she said "Kya?" Sanskaar also got back from his dream world and realized that he did a very big mistake. To cover up the situation, Sanskaar said "Main to ye keh raha tha ki tum aaj itni beautiful lag rahi ho ki koi bhi tumse shaadi karna chahega." Ragini felt very shy and began to look downward and said "tum bhi aaj bahut ache lag rahe ho Sanskaar." Sanskaar smiled and held out his hand for Ragini and said "to Chalein?" Ragini smiled and caught Sanskaar's hand.

When they entered in the Youth Ball, the recipient said "please tell me your names. You both are entering as a couple na." Sanskaar nodded in agreement and told his and Ragini's name. When Swara entered alone in the Ball, the recipient said "Sorry Madam but single persons are not allowed in the ball." She also stopped Laksh from entering in the Ball. Swara said "Laksh tum mere partner ban jao warna hum log Ball main nahi jaa payenge." Laksh agreed and they both entered as a couple in the Ball. Vicky-Sneha and Vishal-Shruti also entered in the Ball as a couple.

In the Ball, there was a machine who was giving scores to couples out of 10. When Sanskaar and Ragini checked out their score, the machine began to vibrate and said "out of Numbers. Perfect Couple." Ragini and Sanskaar looked at each other and laughed. Laksh and Swara got 7, Vicky-Sneha got 9 and Vishal-Shruti got 8.

All the peoples were staring at Ragini and Sanskaar as they both were looking very good together. All the peoples were busy in chatting with each other when the host of the Ball came and said "Attention Everyone, I want to welcome all of you in the Ball. We are going to play a game with all the couples. Well, we all will give every couple two things to eat, one sweet and another very spicy, or sour. The couple who will win this game will increase their chance to be crowned as the Hottest Jodi of the Ball. I must add one thing, it's compulsory for every couple to participate in this game. 1 person will eat one thing of his/her choice and his/her partner will eat another thing."

All the couples got ready for the game. The organizers of the Ball served all the couples one plate full of candies and another plate full of Bitter gourd. Ragini said "Sanskaar we should not participate in it." Sanskaar replied "No Ragini we should participate in this game. You eat candies, I will eat Bitter Gourd. I don't want any further arguments now. " Sanskaar and Ragini ate Bitter Gourd and Candies. A lot couple got eliminated from the game as they refused to eat Bitter Gourd. Sanskaar-Ragini, Laksh-Swara, Vicky-Sneha and Vishal-Shruti and a few more couples proceeded for the next round of the game.

In the second round, they were asked to eat a plate of sweets and another plate full of Tamarind. Ragini ate all the tamarind where as Sanskaar ate all the sweets. Laksh-Swara and Vishal-Shruti refused to eat tamarind and lost the game. Sanskaar-Ragini and Vicky-Sneha proceeded for the final round.

In the final round, they were asked to eat one plate of chocolates and another plate of green chilies. Vicky-Sneha backed out from the game after seeing green chilies. Sanskaar said "I should eat green chilies. You should eat chocolates." Ragini replied "No Sanskaar I should eat green chilies. Mujhe pata hai tumhe green chilies se allergy hai. You understood me." Sanskaar wanted to argue but Ragini made him keep quiet. Sanskaar ate the plate full of chocolates and Ragini started to eat green chilies. After eating 10 chilies, tears started rolling down from Ragini's eyes. Sanskaar saw this and said "Ragini don't eat it." But Ragini continued eating chilies. She finished all the chilies. This way they won the game. All the peoples started to clap for them.

Now they all started to play another game called 'Passing the Parcel.' In this game, when the music starts playing, one person should pass one pillow to the person sitting next to him/her and then they should pass the pillow to everyone forming a chain. When the music stops the person holding the pillow will be asked to do a dare.

In the first round of the game, when the music stopped it was Sanskaar who was holding the pillow. He was asked by the host to imagine his Ball partner as his love and dedicate a song to her. Sanskaar looked at Ragini and after few moments he began to sing a song.

Neendon main basaya tumko''

Miloge humein tum janam kahin na kahin'.

All began to clap for Sanskaar and Ragini felt very shy and began to look downward. Sanskaar smiled after seeing Ragini shy.
