Okay so as the winters are approaching and the nights get unusually spooky and silent in winters, something quite weird yet interesting struck me about PKHJD.
We were informed quite early in the show that the real Ishaan Hooda is dead and the Rizwaan has adopted his persona, and recently we have started knowing Meghna. His wife. The couple is dead, not in the world any longer, but somehow supernaturally is controlling the fate of the alive parrallel couple, Rizwaan & Preet. It feels as both the characters are completely at the mercy of their dead counter parts.
Tomorrow if we have Meghna's best friend who had been a witness in thier wedding, then what? Rizwaan & Preet's love story is moving forward on this basis that Ishaan and Meghna are letting them too, and recently, Rizwaan looking at her pictures are asking, "kaun ho tum?", Preet questioning, "kavya ki maa kaun thi?", and now her sister appearing and discussing all their life in front of Rizwaan. It has just created a subtle yet amazing aura. If we look closely, the makers have almost developed a supernatural, mysteriously gothic sub text to the happy go lucky exterior.
This reminds me of that novel REBECCA, where Rebecca herself is dead, but she is the only living breathing character of the novel.
The way Ishaan and Meghna almost appear living and breathing in between Rizwaan and Preet is haunting yet intriguing. That dead couple is almost alive between these two. Their life, their love letters, their struggles, their hopes, their dreams, and most of all .. their daughter .. everything is alive between Rizwaan and Preet.
