😲 The World Bank has said poverty in India has gone down. Do you think it has improved or still gotten worse? Please share your thoughts. 😭

First you have to define what you mean by poverty.

Second, what information/data is used by those individuals venturing an opinion on this subject?

There have been studies done many decades ago in the USA which showed that people though of poverty in not absolute terms but in relation to others around them.

So, imo, the question you pose is partially vague and difficult to answer.

poverty in india wont go down for another 15 years, assuming modi is in power for 10 years and he removes jaitley as fm within the next two years. else, poverty will never go down , even for 40 years.

It depends on how you define poverty. I imagine govt uses that BPL data which is in fact flawed. Some rich people in villages get themselves registered as BPL to avail benefits.

Then in cities, some migrants register themselves under EWS and get a free flat even though they have a house back in their village.

Does everyone really need a tv/smartphone etc? In India, the weaker sections I find have will travel for fairs/festivals etc whenever they feel like. They travel for free in trains without tickets. They have the luxury of time which the middle class people do not have. Because they don't care if their child misses school or they lose their job.

I don't think that there is absolutely no poverty in India,because there is poverty.People still can't afford the basic necessities,and even the payments,i mean the salaries aren't good enough for the people who are highly educated.Corruption is here,and this is what pisses me off.People don't educate their children,especially girls because they want them to do (child) labour since a young age,so that they can continue in their profession and because they don't have enough money to educate them and for their food.Hence,there is poverty in India,and everyone can see it clearly if they want to.

If the question is about whether it has improved or not,then it has improved.I won't say that it hasn't.But still there are a lot of people who are suffering with poverty,because the salaries aren't sufficient,in a few states,and a few jobs,idk about all goverment jobs,but for at least doctors,they are not allowed to practice working rather than in their hospitals,and not everyone is always paid well.
