They are both great in their own sense.
Sonam's journey:
1) Salman Khan (Ranbhir Kapoor also debuted in Saawariya)

Sometimes Deepika overacts, while sometimes you just want to punch Sonam's face. Other times, Deepika manages to really stands out in her acting, while Sonam sometimes really displays some superb acting.
Both have their ups and down, neither is perfect. But face it, Deepika had a much better start with SRK - both main characters. Salman was more of a supporting character in Saawariya, and Saawariya wasn't that great a movie reception wise.
But I'd love to hear what people think about these two without putting in their bias towards their fans / their media-sourced wars / etc. Right now, it just feels like Deepika fans are supporting Deepika because they can't see beyond her, and Sonam fans are supporting Sonam because they can't see beyond her.
