The most important award of the year. Who's going to win?

Last year was a 4-horse race: Kagnana vs Alia vs Rani vs Priyanka - with Kangu stealing all the glory.

With less than 8 weeks to go, the outstanding performances so far are probably:

- Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu Returns)

- Deepika Padukone (Piku)

- Anushka Sharma (NH10)

- Priyanka Chopra (Dil Dhadakne Do)

- Kalki Koechlin (Margarita With A Straw)

- Richa Chadha (Masaan)

The front-runner so far is probably a toss-up between Kangana and Deepika. Anushka should get nominated too, Kalki's film didn't get a lot of buzz, so I wonder if the jury members will take notice.

What's to look forward to...

- Deepika Padukone (Tamasha)

- Deepika Padukone (Bajirao Mastani)

- Priyanka Chopra (Deewani Mastani)

- Kajol (Dilwale)

Deepika's chances are good because her 2 upcoming films are with the men that bring out the best in her. Will PC be reduced to "Supporting Actress"? Will Kajol's role have enough scope in a Rohit Shetty film?

Also, will they give Aishwarya Rai a nod for Jazbaa, she was good, but the film was a let down.

And then there's that film with Juhi Chawla and Shabana Azmi coming out at the end of the year which seems interesting. And I think Tabu has another film lined up soon.

I haven't seen Dil Dhadakne Do - but heard Shefali Shah was amazing - they'll probably throw her in "supporting"?

Race is between Deepika and Kangana - there is no other way around! NO LEFT RIGHT CENTER TOP BOTTOM!

Kangana has potential to win but this time around unlike last year her performance as Datto and Tanu might get a stiff competition from Deepika's Mastani! and knowing how award circuits love to her as a guest, wouldn't hesitate in giving her the award!

Priyanka was absolutely amazing in DDD, One of her best performances but the hype around that role isn't that profound compared to people you mentioned

She will win for BM in supporting category though

Omg I forgot to mention SONAM KAPOOR.

I have always loved her, and still do, but her being nominated for the last 2 years was embarrassing. With PRDP set to be a massive hit, traditionally, the heroines in the biggest movies of the year get thrown in the category (Aishwarya in Dhoom 2, Shraddha in Aashiqui 2) despite mediocre performances. So Sonam actually has a super strong chance at being nominated. But let's wait and see, she may deliver a career-best performance.

Clear frontrunner is Kangana on basis of double combo critical + blockbuster acclaim. Deepika can soon catch-up with additional acclaim for BM. I doubt Tamasha will do much on critical level even if it were to be success. The role looks quite mediocre.

But with DP being more awards friendly, she will collect her share of trophies at some ceremonies (Stardust, Big Star Entertainment, Apsara, Screen...) even if it has to be only for Piku, eventually.

The question is who will win FF Best Actress Popular? Kangana so far... If BM gets blockbuster status + DP's performance critical acclaim, then it will be a very TIGHT RACE!

Kajol will have to be simply amazing to topple both Kangy and DP... but strange things have happened before. #2001 & 2010

Agree about pc! She'll be kickass in bm but competition is tough for supporting role as well

On topic Dp as Piku has one hand on the trophy along with Datto.

For critics choice I think kalki vs anushka vs richa (all of kashyaps heroines😆)

If pure merit was considered then Anushka deserves it for Nh10 it was a great movie and great performance. People should not mix up bombay velvet's box office with Nh10's merit.

I'd surely put Aishwarya for Jazbaa, she was simply amazing. People may think whatever about the film but I know she was real good.

So I think these will be the nominees acc. to me:

Kangana(TWM2) - Great chances
Deepika(Piku and she may garner good attention for BM too) Oh yes, there is tamasha too. A lot will depend on the content of the films. She is surely getting nominated, will have to see for which of these she has best chances to win.

Kalki(Margarita)
Anushka(nh10)

The awards which matter

Ff has only two categories only

Screen has three popular, jury and some hero award

Others like big star, iifa, stardust (which used to be good for newbies) are kind of prasad distribution, cos they have too many categories n give everyone an award😆
