K: which one is better? She asked holding up 2 pillows one white in colour and the other baby pink in colour...

A: mm the white one...

K: nah! I think the pink one is cuter...

A: why do you even ask me, madam decorator... he said sarcastically...

As: "brr...boo brrr...abu abu abu... achu..." in disgust

A: yes Ashi I know baby your ach... I mean masi is a pain sometimes...

K: shut up...

Arnav quickly placed his hands on Ashi's ears...

A: "she is a very sensitive baby...khushi..." he glared...

K: "god I live with a completely crazy man... she said as she dumped the pillows on the pile...

A: heyy... how about this one... he lifted a pillow which had a dark pink line running from one corner to the diagonally opposite corner, half of it was white and half of it was baby pink...

Khushi smiled as she took it from his hand...

K: "see it's us..."

A: "hmm..." he uttered as he smiled back...

After about an hour and a half...

A: so...? he asked raising an eyebrow...

K: mm... pillows, covers... coffee table, settees... what else is left?

A: curtains...bed covers, and please blankets... Ashi has ruined them all

Ashi giggled happily as to tell them that she was proud of her deeds.

K: oh yeah right... come...

A: how many do we need...?

K: I think around forty...

A: mmm... okkay...

They reached the curtain area...

K: how about this one...? she asked fingering a bright pink curtain...

A: for? He asked raising an eyebrow

K: our room... she said in a "kind of obvious" tone

A: nah... too vibrant...

K: hmm... she started scanning the other curtains... and lifted one... how about... this one... she asked showing a teal blue curtain...

A: what is wrong with you... he asked...

K: why? What happened...?

A: uh... nothing... lemme see...

He shuffled through a few materials and pulled out a semi transparent white coloured curtain...

A: this...?

Khushi's eyes lightened up...

K: mm... Nice... she uttered with a smile...

A: hmm how many?

K: mmm... I think 6 will be okkay...

A: hmm... next...

After shuffling through over 100 materials... they finished their curtain shopping...

K: bed covers and blankets...

A: oh god... no, please... let's eat first I'm very hungry...

After what seemed an eternity to Arnav, they were done with their shopping, Ashi had fallen asleep on Arnav's lap.

Khushi was checking the items on the delivery sheet when Arnav came and handed over a sleeping Ashi to her.

K: "where are you going?"

A: "wait for me inside the mall, I'll be back in 5 minutes..." and with that he rushed out of Khushi's sight...

Khushi sighed and returned to her checking.

After a while Arnav returned to Khushi and took Ashi from her...

K: "where did you go?"

A: "nowhere important... so when are they going to deliver our things...?"

K: by tomorrow morning...

A: mmm good... day after tomorrow is Saturday... we'll start on Saturday...

K: mmm okkay... do you need to work tomorrow...

A: yeah, I need to meet the lawyer for the collaboration clauses. The lawyer will visit you on Monday.

K: okkay.

Arnav and Khushi were too tired to handle a howling Ashi, but they had no choice. It was 1 am and none of them were able to keep their eyes open expect for a cranky Ashi. She had brought the whole house down... one of the three prakash brothers were crawling around the study, imitating various animals... One of them was making funny faces at Ashi and instantly got a slap from the tiny palm... the other one was in the kitchen, preparing food for Ashi. Arnav and Khushi kept on patting Ashi, swaying her, walking around with her but nothing helped. Soon Om prakash brought Ashi's food of mashed potatoes, boiled vegetables and boiled rice... Arnav somehow managed to place Ashi on his lap and Khushi feed her a spoon of the mixture. Ashi quietly started to move her mouth and gulped it. Khushi looked at Arnav and fed her another spoon...

Saturday...

The things had arrived and it was time for some unpacking and arranging. Khushi was excited and Arnav, well Arnav knew what was in for him.

Khushi ripped opened the first box and started scattering the foam wraps and papers around...

A: Khushi, I have a doubt.

As: "agluuu luu meegu"; Ashi lifted a piece of foam and giggled...

K: "what doubt" she asked, as she continued ripping off another box.

A: We planned to renovate this house... not make a garbage out of it...

K: who's making a garbage out of this house? I'm just taking things out...

Khushi walked to Arnav, placed her hand on his shoulder "By the end of this day, I'll change the look of the house"

A: "We'll see... He gave a dull look and opened another box.

After an hour,

Rather than decorating the house, Arnav and Khushi were throwing foam pieces, and all sorts of wrapping materials at each other. They had planned to rearrange the bedroom, but now, every piece of fabric was scattered on the floor, Khushi picked up a piece of cardboard to throw at Arnav, but she toppled over a curtain, Arnav rushed to hold her, but met with the same fate. Khushi landed on Arnav, her eyes tightly closed, Arnav held her by her waist. Khushi opened an eye to see if she was alive and saw Arnav's calm face. She opened her other eye and had a clear look at him, there was a kind of assurance in his eyes that made Khushi feel safe around him. She smiled at him and he smiled back. Since the death of Aakash and Payel, Arnav had developed a sense of responsibility towards Khushi, but today, while he lied in this position with Khushi he wanted to feel something different. Khushi remained in that position looking into his deep brown eyes, Arnav's hands moved up to her back and finally one hand moved into her hair, Khushi rested her hand around Arnav's head and moved her face closer to Arnav's.

Soon they could feel each other's breath on their cheeks. Arnav could feel Khushi's chest move over his... he closed his eyes and so did Khushi. Their lips touched... Arnav felt the wetness of Khushi's lips on his and it made him want for more... he parted his lips slightly, a fear of rejection running in his mind, but Khushi permitted him... He took her lower lips into his mouth and Khushi sucked his upper lip.

They didn't know how long they had been kissing when they had stopped to take a breath. Khushi looked at Arnav, a final glance before they kissed again...

That evening,

Khushi and Arnav had managed to rearrange almost half of the house. A house that narrated an unknown story of their love. Every part of the house had a touch of Arnav-Khushi as a couple and their house looked much prettier now. It was filled with pictures of Ashi, Arnav-Khushi, the three of them together and lot more.

At dinner,

Arnav hesitantly told, "If, what happened was against your wish, I am really sor..."

Khushi shushed Arnav, as she held her hand, "I would have never let you do it, against my wish..."

Arnav smiled, a confusion playing in his mind, he didn't know where this was going to o or where he wanted to take it. Khushi too was not clear about the outcomes of the kiss, but it made her feel good and at this point of time, that mattered. They didn't know if they loved each other, but they wanted to make an effort towards what they had started today.
