Hello! I'm posting in this DT for the first time, and I'm myself surprised that I'm here. I didn't plan to watch Jackson Heights previously, but as I watched some random scenes, I got hooked to this show and then watched it till the end. 😃
Jackson Heights is a seriously remarkable show with fantastic concept. How life becomes tough when a person is supposed to settle in a strange atmosphere, far from his family & that too for their well-being, and how that tough life forces a person to change from good to bad. Everything from script, execution, direction is brilliant in this drama. ⭐️ Beautifully captured views of America, with some light hearted scenes, and also some emotional sequences... There was not even a single moment when I felt bored while watching JH. Oh and not forget, the OST- Laiyaan Laiyaan' is so affective and soothing to ears! I'm in love with Saad Sultan's voice. 😳
Coming to the cast, I'll firstly admit that I'm adding Marina Khan to the list of my favorites. This lady was too cute as Michelle. 😳 Her strict nature, which did not even allow her to socialize and make a bunch of friends, is what made me like her, since this personality is kind of rare to find. It was heart-breaking to see why this character became quite flexible in the second half of the story, since she falls in love with the person who wants to marry her only for the US Nationality. But it was good to see that she was back to her normal being. The only complaint I have from this character is that she didn't accept Rizwan's proposal, and surprisingly, this complaint makes me relieved too, since it would have been a little clichd if Michelle and Rizwan were shown a happy married couple! :P
Noman Eijaz... I salute this man for portraying so many characters, and I've enjoyed watching him in both negative & positive roles. But to be honest, his portrayal of Imran Bhatti has made me love him! ❤️ What I loved the most about this character is that he always had that adorable smile on his face, whether he was happy, sad or even tensed. Bearing with a wife like Cathy and an ignorant daughter was not so easy for him, but the truth is that he spent those 15 years in America only because of his jovial nature. 😎 The scene where he breaks down after his mother passes away and many other scenes followed by took my heart away. He literally felt the guilt of not being with her in the past years. But since a person like him deserved a happy end in the story, how would he not unite with his lady love? 😳
Then there is Amina Sheikh as Salma. An independent working woman who has a tough life outside and tougher life handling her personal issues, Salma is yet another character of Amina after Ujaala and Aiman which makes her my favorite. 😃 Imaan and Aaliya were probably the only two people who understood her nicely since starting, but that was not just enough for her. Her always taunting mother-in-law and high-tempered husband were there to create problems for her, and never understood the goodness she had. 🤔 And it was too late when they started expecting her to accept their changed attitudes towards her... Seriously, how do you expect a woman to live with you happily after you've left no stone unturned in mistreating her? 😳
Lastly comes Adeel Hussain as Jamshed. I'll admit honestly that he was the least likeable character for me among the four, and it's not because he was a grey-shaded personality, but I liked the above three more from starting till the end. But yes, he was kind of more relatable character than the others because every person has some flaws, and Jamshed being a normal person too had them. 😊 Yes he broke Michelle's trust; he turned rude towards Imran and also tried becoming heartless to his Nani, the lady who brought him up just like a mother would do. 😒 But anyone could do that, isn't it? And if he was guilty at the end, he wanted to apologize, then his track too deserved a happy ending. He was forgiven by Michelle and later he started a new life with the lesson that the right path might be tough, but it gives a satisfaction to your heart & soul. 😳
Not to forget the side characters, without them the script was incomplete. Whether it was Aliya, Salma's family, or Imran's wife & children and his family in Pakistan... Each person had an influence to the story. Among them, I'll pick Rizwan, Imaan, Aliya and Imran's mother as my favorite ones. 😃
Infact I never considered Rizwan as a side character! He was a perfect friend to Michelle throughout the story, and stood by her even after she turned away from him due to Jamshed's tricks. He was still friends with her when she rejected his proposal, and any girl would want a friend like him. ❤️ Adnan Jaffer was lovable in this character. There, Aliya was an understanding friend to Salma who often teased her about going on a date with Bhatti, supported her when she faced problems from her in-laws no matter how much Sikandar's mother disliked her. 😳 Imaan was a dutiful daughter who stood by her mother like a pillar even after her Dadi brainwashed her about Salma being her step-mother. It was Imaan only who, after making a failed attempt to bind her mother in the so-called happy family' frame, freed her from the promise and allowed her to lead the life in her own way. 👍🏼
Imran's mother was perhaps the only character, who didn't have a happy ending. :( She spent her life in upbringing her grandson in the best possible way, arranged money for him to go to the U.S, with the thought that he would never ever forget her. She keenly waited for her son to come back to her, and talked to him for long hours, making several plans, which never actually happened. 😔 But the only good thing happened to her was that she saw Imran before closing her eyes forever. I felt very bad for this lady, and here you realize how it feels when you're not able to meet or talk to the ones for whom you've been waiting terribly. Besides, I even liked Asma, Nadir, Javed and Bhatti's son (I can't remember his name). That scene where Imran reminds his daughter to come back to home directly after classes and she replies to him ignorantly, his son is like "I'll come back to home after classes" and then Imran's reply... That was funny and cute as well. 😆
I didn't like Iqbal and his wife. Obviously who would like them! 😕 Especially the lady...How greedy a person can become? Even after her mother-in-law's death all she wanted was the property. That scene where she sends her son to ask for dollars to Imran was so cheap! I didn't want Imran to give away his share of property to them, but then, he didn't care for property or money. That dialogue he said to Iqbal while handing him the property papers was so touching. And yet his brother didn't seem to realize what he actually meant! 🥱 The meeting scene of Cathy-Salma was one of the best parts of the show... And that's the only scene where I liked Cathy! 😆
All in all Jackson Heights is definitely a worth-watching drama and I'm now going to recommend this to my friends. 😳 Trust me, this show can make you fall in love with all the four central characters, who were unique and lovable in their own ways! ❤️
