Jillu: Guys, is everything done?

Sanya: Not yet. Our cake ain't ready.

Shivangi: Don't worry. Javeria and Meena are working on it.

Keenal: I've sent cars for our guests. I am so excited to finally meet them!

Javeria: THE CAKE IS READYYY!

(Javeria enters the hall with the cake in her hand and stumbles over the pumpkin faced balloons and the cake falls on Shivangi's head. Everyone runs towards Javeria and help her up. Shivangi on the other hand, has turned into a cake monster , with the cake smeared entirely on her head.)

Shivangi: *tasting a bit of the cake* The cake's no more, but damn this is so yummy.

Sanya: You should stay like this the entire evening. You look totally like a cake monster! 🤣

Everyone else joins in the laughter.

Jillu: The guests might arrive any time guys. And the cake's gone. What should we do now?

Meena: Simple. We won't have a cake and whoever wants to have cake can take it from Shivangi's head. She has a lot of it there. 🤣

Shivangi: Ha ha ha. I feel like this is the perfect costume I have ever seen.

Javeria: Meena, let's go and check if other delicacies are okay.

(They enter the kitchen and find Scooby and Shaggy hogging up everything. Javeria runs over and stops them.)

Javeria: Scooby, Shaggy what are you doing?! How did you get in here? And where are others?!

Shaggy: No idea! We got the smell of the food and came faster than everyone else did!

Scooby: Rmell of Rood!

(Suddenly they heard screams coming from the living area. They ran outside and saw a man with a mutilated face running around to attack their friends."Help us!" They cried. Scooby ran towards the ghost and unmasked him. And guess who it turned out to be? Barney Stinson!)

Barney: Get off me Scooby!

Scooby: Scooby dooby dooo!

(Fred, Velma, Daphne, Lily, Ted , Harry, Hermione and Ron enter into the house and shock everyone.)

Jillu: That was a horrible prank, Barney.

Barney: Hey! But you did get scared!

Hermione: He made us wait outside and put on that mask to scare you people!

Barney: There are so many things to do with this mask. Why waste it on just decking ourselves up?"

Sanya: Thank god for Scooby!

Keenal: Scooby will get extra food because he saved us!

Scooby: *jumping happily* Scooby dooby dooo!

(Everyone laughed, ate the delicious food, played games, pranked each other and enjoyed their Halloween party heartily!)

Flirting the line between fall and winter, life and death, plenty and paucity, Halloween is a time for superstition and celebration.

HISTORY

Approximately 2000 years ago, Halloween was celebrated as a pre-Christian Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced as "Sah-win"), which meant "the end of summer" in Gaelic culture; people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as a time to honour all saints and martyrs; the holiday, All Saints' Day, incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows' Eve and later Halloween. Other ancient resources indicate that the festival was meant to celebrate the end of the harvest season and prepare for winter. According to the Gaelic culture, on October 31st, the deceased arose from dead and wreaked havoc amongst the living. They would cause damage either physically (through illness) or financially (by damaging crops). Celtic priests, also known as Druids, would make predictions through the presence of these spirits. To celebrate this festival with pomp, bonfires were lit to please the Celtic Deities through burning crops and animals.

HALLOWEEN TODAY

Over the years, Halloween evolved into a secular, community-based event characterized by child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating. Today, people dress up in scary costumes and go trick-or-treating from one house to another. This tradition might go back to a practice, where people would disguise themselves, pleading for food. Costumes were also worn to perform plays or scripts. Another symbolism of this practice might be related to the ritual of "souling." Practiced in Britain and Ireland, people went from door-to-door for asking for food in return for prayers for the dead.

Halloween is celebrated in many different countries. So, let's take a tour at some of them.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead):
Dia de los Muertos is a two day festival celebrated in Mexico on November 1st and 2nd. It is celebrated in honor of those who passed away. On this festival, the streets of Mexico is filled with decorations of flowers, skeletons and parades flow through.

Alla Helgons Dag:
Alla Helgons Dag is Halloween celebrated in Sweden from October 31st to November 6th. Schools are universities are shortened the week prior to this festival.

Teng Chieh:
Teng Chieh is celebrated in China and it falls on the 15th day of the year. They lit the lanterns in honor of the passed away and serve food and water to their photographs. The presence of "pretas" among the living is thought by the Chinese to be dangerous. "Pretas" as spirits that died accidently.

Obon Festival:
Obon Festival is celebrated in Japan and has to do with spirits of ancestors. Candles and lanterns are lit. Food is served. House cleaning is done during this festival to show the pathways from the graves to home.

HalloPeeps, it is Halloween! Finally, that time of the year has arrived where we get to dress up in various costumes and carve our lovely Jack-O-Lanterns to celebrate this festival of spookiness! To celebrate this with more zest, we have two contests that are awaiting for your trick-o-treat response!😈😛

Ever thought of becoming shakespeare ? No ? It's okay , no Fret!! Here we bring up an exciting opportunity for you all to be the next Shakespeare on India Forums, through The Drabble Contest.

  • A "drabble" is defined as a short story containing exactly precisely no more and no fewer than 100 words. It has a title, which can be from 1 to 15 words-but no more than 15.

  • You have to count each word. Hyphenated words, such as tete-a-tete, count as one word. Don't use your word count tool to count the words, because that tool will count . . . as three words, which really should be counted as one word. It will also count dashes as words, which is wrong. So count each word by sight, not by tool.

  • Our drabble contest has the theme Halloween .

  • Basically, we're looking for stories that are a bit off-beat, quirky, unusual. We mean, face it, what would happen if you went to bed with your friend and woke up next to a zombie or a witch . Add some humor as well.

Have you ever thought about a chance to carve your imagination on a Jack-O-Lantern? Lit Jack-O-Lanterns are an integral part of this feast as they represent homes dispensing treats.

Manually, Jack-O-Lanterns are constructed by carving parts to yield fearsome face. However, we are going to carve a Jack-O-Lantern using our wildest imaginations. That's right! We are giving you a chance to create your own Jack-O-Lantern based on your creativity. So, get ready to carve out all of your Spooki-ful Jack-O-Lanterns!

Criteria of Carving

-You've to design/create Jack-O-Lantern(s) based on your imagination in the blank layout/template given below. You can add anything you like to this template but be unique!

-You can send max 3 Entries for this contest. 3 Different entries! Quick advice: If you don't like the way your pumpkin looks, you can just carve another face! :P

-Send your entries to _Meena_ or CrazyKupKakes

before October 27th, '15. Please specify for which contest is the entry for. If you're doing both of the contests, just tell which entry is for what contest. Winners and runner-ups will be announced on October 29th, '15 and receive very good treats from us. 😛

- If you've any doubts/queries feel free to post in your doubts here and the team shall respond as early as possible.

Happy Carving Time!
