Are you saying that the Kurukshetra war was also fought during nights? I don't think so. It was only from dawn to dusk.

I don't understand this whole dark and gloomy problem. A film's color reflects it's mood, story and characters.

Besides he just made that super red Ram Leela that was very colorful!

Power went off, no back up generators..so darkness

If u are asking Y dark n gloomy in daytime - its cuz of the high rise buildings nearby..prevents sun rays frm coming in.

It was decided by mutual concent, that the Kurukhestra war will be fought from dawn to dusk, there is no such rule against fighting in dark.
many a time battles have been resumed at night.

Even in Kurukhestra war, ghatotkach was killed on 14th( 13th not sure) night. the war extended to night and no one stopped.

So was the killing of the pandava members towards the end of war by ashwathama. The parva is named souptik parva, killing during sleep.

True. Also, any event that would happen after sunset was unethical and would be considered as flouting of rules. But it did happen on the 14th day when Ghatotkach dies. The destruction and deaths happened during that night, after sunset.

Edit : Didn't word it properly! 😆
