There's a history to their alleged animosity. At one time Shah Rukh wasn't just keen on to have Ash as his co-star, he was even playing a match-maker between her and Salman Khan.

The source says, "In fact, Shah Rukh and his wife Gauri had gone to Aishwarya's parents' home with Salman's rishta for their daughter. But the Rais rejected the proposal outright and were quite dismissive. Shah Rukh later told his close friends it was a mistake to plead Salman's case with Ash's parents."

Then the Chalte Chalte incident happened, where Salman barged on to the sets of Aziz Mirza's film and disrupted the schedule.

The source says, "That's when Shah Rukh vowed never to work with Ash again. He quickly had Ash replaced with Rani Mukherji and the portions done with Ash were re-shot. Every time her name cropped up, Shah Rukh refused to work with her. She was Yash Chopra's first choice for Veer-Zaara. Shah Rukh convinced him to take Preity instead."

i don't blame SRK for removing Ash from Chalte Chalte as it would have been awkward for him as Salman was a friend n on the side he has partners with whom he was producing a movie whose set was destroyed so obviously they will try to remove the heroine so that movie can be completed without disturbance n somewhere i think Ash would have understood.
