Pati Hamesha Sahi- Not really and that is not the Gundhan for a woman

This is not the first time I am making this post. And I don't think it will be the last time also. A woman is asked to walk behind the husband and she is told husband is always right. Is that so. Husband is also a human being, he also can make mistakes and our Vedic marriage ritual clearly establishes marriage as a partnership not a ghulami.
People need to understand in saat phere man walks in front for 4 pheras and woman walk in front for 3 pheras. That itself is the symbolism that based on the situation husband or wife has to take charge and the other has to walk behind respecting the decision. That understanding and trust when to take charge and when to walk behind between partners decide the success of a marriage. Not when one always walk behind nodding " Yes yes yes"
And to people who think wife always have to nod yes I will give examples from mythology itself to establish my points
Sita- Sita was not a doormat or yes woman as people make her out. Sita argues about Patni dharm and it is her decision to go with Ram for Vanvass. Again people forget the fact that when Ram asks her to come to Ayodhya and take the chastity pledge once again after the banishment, the great lady flatly refuses and asks Mother Earth to take her.
Panchali- Arey what would have happened to Dharma if this woman had accepted her husband's decision in the infamous hall of dice. Even Lord Krishna wouldn't have been able to do anything. Pandavas would have become slaves to Kauravas. This lady questions, raves and rants when she gets no help from anyone doesn't sit quiet. She calls Krishna to help her. And yes it is that call that makes all the difference. Even Lord Krishna needed the untied hair of Panchali to establish dharma and to give the great book of Bhagwad Gita to the world.
Savitri- She fools the Lord of death with her intelligent questions and get her husband back from death. What if she had sat and cried like bahus of today mera pati mar gaya.
And what would have happened to the world if Parvati had not taken the tapasya to bring back Shiva from his ascetic life. Who would have killed Tarakasur who got a boon only Shiva's son can kill him. Parvati could have easily allowed the world to go on because Shiva doesn't want her. But she didn't and it is her tapasya that bought Shiva to her and Kartikeya was born to kill Tarakasur
Come to contemporary world. Can anyone take more credit for the first war of Indian Independence than Rani Lakshmi Bhai of Jhansi.
Comon guys we have enough examples in our past of great woman and their stories. They were not abla naris, they had the power on their own. Woman is called Shakthi in Indian mythology and I believe we as woman hold the great transformational power. That is why mother is called the first teacher. That is why Swami Vivekananda said educate the woman and she will take decisions. Because he knew the educated woman can take decisions that are good for the family. And what is good for the family is good for society also.

we always should keep in mind that the story is set in 1940s. so thats why this dialogue is common those days. even around 20 -30 years back also this was said. now only due to the education, employment the situation is changing. so there is no need to take tension here.

but in some societies, even now this is pursued which is very sad😭

@kirti and ananya the examples I gave are that of woman who are supposed to have lived in BC. Whether it is period drama or whether it is today the belief that woman needs to be subjudicated to man is still alive. In contemporary soaps I have heard such dialogues. Contemporary Indian soaps that tops the TRP chart goes about with such dialogues. So whenever I hear that dialogue whichever place it is and whichever time it is, at this point we have to refute it. It can make a difference to someone if not everyone. Because I have seen even among educated ones there are still women who believe or are forced to believe they have to listen everything husband or his family says. As that is the most honorable thing to do. Mythology is twisted and represented to suit patriatichial monopoly, while ancient Vedic culture treated man and woman as equal but different. That is why we have the Ardhanareeshwara concept which depicts man without woman and woman without man is incomplete. And if reading above examples if some girl decides to take a different direction in life I will be the happiest.

Beautiful post..so much agree with u...
I so much agree with u be it that Era or this Era...
Woman can show the right path...
more I have strong objection with the line Pati always right nope Pati is human being who can be done wrong error..
never blindly followed anyone..
woman need to understand judge the situation by her own intelligence...its upto woman to hold the sansar...
Woman is mother who is first teacher of her child guru...n she know more the right or wrong..its few woman who think need to be dependent or follow whatever Husband said...
I am not saying husband r wrong but Wife need to judge it...its not about wife need to fight with husband for every occasion but its taking giving right decision ...
Daymanti judgement n teaching about follow blindly n husband right is totally wrong yesterday in ETR2

Exactly Krishna hus-wife is a relation that needs mutual love, respect, trust and understanding. They are supposed to be partners, friends and lovers. It is not a boss-servant relation. Even in past eras Queens did play an important role in deciding the future of the country.
Queens like Jodha Bhai, Noorjahan, Razia Sultan etc.. have played a very significant roles for their dynasty.
Actually it is the last 20 years or so we see more of this dialogue " Pati Parameshwar hai, sahi hai " in TV. I don't remember seeing such things in DD shows in 90s.

@shruthiravi yes...its happening now days more in TV world...I don't know what they actually want to portray...
Pati paremeshar nehi hota until he has done something respectable thing...we r human being ...
then we can say Woman r Shakti...but what we r receiving...

Husband wife relation need to balance not blindly followed or obey an order its depends on trust understanding respect...
I hope RaGa depicted this here in future...
our queen n those woman r more powerfull they lead life with dignity even during freedom fighting even those pre -Independence era...many woman freedom fighter lead a life with head held high n give us example ..
