Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Purva Parag make an amazing and unique on-screen couple, as their sequences in Zee TV's Sarojini (Rashmi Sharma Productions) surely bring down tears in the eyes of many!!
Well, that is the level of tyranny that Pankaj as Dushyant Singh brings into his character.. Dushyant usually does not leave any stone unturned in humiliating, beating and abusing his wife Nirjhara (Purva), who silently bears it without even making a noise..
Of course, loyal viewers of this show must have observed that there is always a huge emotional overflow when there is a sequence involving Dushyant and Nirjhara on air.
However, for the whole of the team and unit members of Sarojini, the scenes of Tripathi and Purva come as a joyous break, wherein they simply laugh, laugh and laugh!!
Wondering why? Well, both the characters of Dushyant and Nirjhara are so over-the-top, that whenever Dushyant gets at his abusive best, and they see Nirjhara just bending down to the man's tortures, they simply cannot resist laughing, as everything would appear so larger-than-life...
Says Purva, "Yes, it is surely an emotional overdose for us (Pankaj and Purva), as the scenes are so heavy. However, the moment we are done with the scenes, all in the unit have a laugh riot, as all our sequences amuse them so much. There have been times when I have had to intervene with my funny take, saying you could at least get off your seats and go to a corner and laugh, rather than laughing before us."
Having said this, Purva also believes that it is a real challenge playing a docile woman like Nirjhara. "There was a scene wherein Dushyant hit Nirjhara's brother black and blue and threw him out of the house. After shooting for that particular scene, I simply went into my room and cried for hours without control. The very thought that such a humiliation can happen to a woman made me weep."
