why is it such an insult to be compared to Govinda

I always see comments against varun that oh he is just like govinda and even govinda had a number of hits and then he disappeared. But a number of the old actors are no way to be seen no a days. I dnt see this sort of disrespect for their work that I do for Govinda. I am not a fan of Govinda coz 1 I dnt like comedies that much 2 he isn't hot, 3 I never got the big deal about him when he is praised and I dnt get why he was paired with all the bw beauties when he was on, but that being said he is an amazing actor comic timing is brilliant, if one watches his old movies not talking about any of the recent 1s he has done he is very enjoyable to watch. And I remember I watched bits and pieces of this 1 movie where he was serious I cnt remem what it was called bt he was amazing. I dnt see the sort of disrespect for the other older actors like sunny, jackie on the forum that I see for Govinda and I wanted to know why.

More like an honour, great actor.

Govinda is an amazing actor, dancer and carried movies on his shoulders...why would it be an insult...infact I think any of these actors should consider themselves lucky if they are even half as good as Govinda.

Govinda is a perfect example of someone who wasn't able to sustain once the era of pointless silly repetitive comedies were over.

He is used as an example to be not typecasted. He was way more talented than David Dhawan- Shakti kapoor, Kader khan type of 1000s of slapstick movies one after another. He ruined his talents and image.

Govinda has done all sorts of films and the films with David Dhawan are just one part of his career.

He is a natural performer, with amazing comic timing and brilliant at dance. He lights up the screen. That matters more than just being fit or hot. He has never been self conscious. He gives it all to his role no matter what it's like.

People talk about how he disappeared but forget the longevity and hits he had. Many still struggle to achieve even what Govinda had! Why make fun of him? He was #10 in BBC greatest performers of the millennium in 2000 (same poll that was topped by AB sr). He used to be among the highest earning entertainers of India in 90s. People bashing him, have favs who haven't even achieved that much!

Govinda did get typecast and that was his undoing. Otherwise he was a well liked actor and still is.

Before hurting at comparison to Govinda, one should be thankful if their fav has achieved even one bit of mass appeal that Govinda had.

No memory of 80s or 90s is complete without mention of Govinda. He carved his niche.

Those bashing him have favs who are still trying to find their feet!

no,i dont think its an insult to be compared to govinda...and i guess most of us like him cos of his comic timing atleast i myself love to watch his movies anyday any given time over someOVERACTING superstar movies...
