Voted for Kangana as Rani. She carried whole film with her.

And in every frame she portrayed Rani with perfection. Her vulnerability, her innocence, naivety, heartbreak, exploring new culture yet not judging people with different aspect in life, coming to realize the worth of her own happiness. Brilliant.

For the rest 2, I will give DP as Meenama more points than Kareena as Geet. First, Punjabi loud characters have been done so many times. Kareena did do it brilliantly but a full fledged South Indian character is not done so well before by any BW heroine that I remember. DP was excellent.

And Shahid supported pretty well as Aditya whereas SRK hammed thru CE.

So It's Kangu > DP > Bebo

There are so many great female character/performances not just in recent years but even before that that I have loved. Out all these though, I would vote for Kangana. Haven't seen CE nor do I plan to.

Sri's character from EV has been the best of recent times. I can relate so much to her character in the sense that I'm American born with parents born in India now living in America...After her character no other female oriented character has really 'wowed' me.

Not even Mardaani? 😃

Undoubtedly,Rani.
I have never seen such a graph in any character irrespective of the gender recently. The character development throughout the film is just superb! From being this timid, protected ,judgemental introvert to living the life of a nomad without being apologetic about her actions, meeting new people and taking back home a bit of Taka,Tim,Sikandar and Vijaylakshmi's characteristics and still remaining that same Rajouri ki deshbhakt Rani and only taking out the negativity and under confidence out of her system by the end of the film. Brilliant!

I might sound repetitive but I'll say this every time such topics are posted in the forum, Rani is the best etched out Bollywood character in recent times. Don't care whether it's a female or a male character but Rani was inspiring and I think the character was quite universal.
