I turned GROUPBIE today and excited about my first poll.

It is to recognize the amazing dancing talent of Urmila. She was beautiful, had great body and was a brilliant dancer as evident through her numbers. It was difficult to shortlist to 10, but I selected these because it showed her best dancing abilities. There are a dozen of other songs that she also has to her credit.

She's such a good dancer.

It was hard to pick, most of her dance performances have been really good.

I agree with you. But do watch Oh Sai Ye from Daud sometime. This is one of her lesser known songs but she is MAGICAL.

You actually made me watch all the songs you listed above.

You're right, most of her numbers are good...even Oh Sai Yaiye.

One thing I realized when I re-watched these songs again, most of her co-stars in these songs were not-so great dancers 😆 Like for eg., Sanjay in Daud and Fardeen in "Kambakth Ishq". We know very well how bad Sanju is, but Fardeen was literally struggling to dance in Kambakth Ishq 😆

Great observation. One thing Urmila really lucked out was in music. Her films ALWAYS boasted of great songs and dance numbers. She benefited greatly with Rahman's music.

Regardless, she was the quintessential 90s actress. These days they make such a big deal of actresses doing dance numbers like Kamli, Babli, Munni whatever... but none of them are a patch over Urmila's body of work.
