Nope, the box office numbers are not unrealistic. The ticket prices are increasing in India. Multiplexes are nowhere close to 100 range. They go as high as 1000 - 2000 depending on the movie demand. So it's up to you as the audience, whether you want to pay that much for a movie. Most people do and that's why the box office numbers are as high as they are.

I'm not a big fan of Bollywood and most of the stars, especially the manner in which they boast about their charity as if they are doing a huge favour to the country, so I chose not to watch movies in the theatre except for a few. I would rather use that elsewhere where it is needed and more efficient but that's just me.

2000 for a movie 😆 a family of 4 will pay Rs 8k 😆 it must be special screening in 4DX for such a high price

10-12 years ago, ticket prices in multiplexes were 50- 75 rupees, now they are 200 rupees at least.

So yeah they have gone up abt 4 times.

Watched a movie in February in a Kolkata multiplex...tkt price was 200 each.

wahi toh ticket prices r up 4 times... which is compensating for the lost days... (in the past movie ran for months... this day 2 week chal jaye toh bahut hai)

Yes, movies are released in many more theaters than before as a countless number of new multiplexes have sprung up in every city and town, multiplexes mean more theaters so more tkts sold.

And also nowadays most BW movies are released worldwide on the same day as India in all those countries where there are NRIs audiences. Makes money more rapidly that way.

20 yrs ago movies had to run at full house for 10-15 weeks before they were declared hits. Even before that, during 70s and 80s, 25 weeks run made movies a Silver jubilee and 50 weeks celebrated Golden jubilee.
