Fitoor will be based on Great Expectations and Tabu is playing Miss Havisham's role. Katrina will be doing Estella's role.
Now d point is :how can there be such less age difference between Miss Havisham and Estella? it is a total mis-cast.

If anything, Alia Bhatt could have played that role, as the character is supposed to be very young, girly and fresh.

Also, can Katrina make a good pair with ARK? She looks and is older to him.

Estella is not supposed to be girly, young and fresh. Have you even read the book? Just wait for the trailer and for the film to come out. It is not like the book. Since Tabu replaced Rekha, she is not playing an older character. I believe she is playing the elder sister or something.
Here read the character description:

Estella may be beautiful, but she's as chilly as Frozone, freezing the hearts of everyone around her"including her adopted mom, Miss Havisham. She's "proud and refined" (33.4) as an adult, and "beautiful and self-possessed" as a child" (8.25), and for some reason Pip falls desperately in love with her, even though she's really, really rude. She's hardly known him for five minutes before she's telling him that he has "coarse hands" and "thick boots" (8.67).

But we can't hate Estella, either. Can you imagine living in Satis House with a mother who wears her wedding dress everyday and who only cares that you grow up to break boys' hearts? Can you imagine having to deal with relatives who only want your mother's money? Can you imagine sleeping in that run-down house every night, hearing Miss Havisham's low moaning and mouse-like shuffling all over the floor boards?

Yeah, it sounds pretty bad. No wonder she claims she "never had any such thing" as tenderness (29.75), and that she has "no heart [...] no softness there, no"sympathy"sentiment"nonsense" (29.66-68).

She knows just who to blame, too: Miss Havisham. We never really get to know Estella, which makes sense, since we're in Pip's perspective and she's always out of his reach, just like the star she's named after. But at one moment, she kind of blows up at her adopted mom and we get a peek into the mind of Estella. Miss Havisham gets mad at her for pushing her away, and she points out that it's totally Miss Havisham's fault for making her unable to love:

Do you reproach me for being cold? You? [...] I am what you have made me. Take all the praise, take all the blame [...] All I possess is freely yours. All that you have given me, is at your command to have again. Beyond that, I have nothing. And if you ask me to give you, what you never gave me, my gratitude and duty cannot do impossibilities. (38.69-77)

No wonder Estella chooses the meanest, roughest, cruelest man she possibly could pick to be her husband. There's something inherently self-destructive about this choice, making her not so dissimilar from the self-destructive Pip, choosing the one thing that's guaranteed to make her miserable. Perhaps they're meant for each other after all.

Like I just said, this is sort of based on the book, not exactly like the book..some characters have larger parts, and some have shorter parts.

The film is about Pip..why did Kat agree to do the film.

If it is according to the book..Why play a part which has such a fabulous role for a new actor SMH

Mrs Havisham has more interactions with Pip in the book..She has a history..her character undergoes many changes..and she is the one on whom PIP depended(to make him a gentleman)..and who let him down more..

I don't want to sound biased, but why are you so interested in this film? Whatever the film's fate is, shouldn't matter to you.

I have read the book Great Expectations and was mapping the movie in my head according to it. And I don't think Katrina fits the role of Estella at all - but that's my opinion.

No thats not true at all. Pip never depended on Havisham (he thinks for a while that she is behind his great expectations and has plans for him and Estella; but that bubble is burst very soon) and niether does she let him down. Its Estella whom his life revolves around and she is the one who broke him the most.

And Estella is a wonderful character. Layered, complex and Beautiful. Hers is a heartbreaking and facinating tale in itself and she remains one of most iconic characters put to paper till date. Its Dickens after all. Dont know why anyone wouldnt want to potray her.

Katrina is a very good fit for Estella. I think this is going to be her career best performance.
There is is just one scene that I am worried about but apart from that I think she will do fine.

For the most part she has to show no emotion at all and just give a cold shoulder to everyone. And Katrina can manage that perfectly. Oh and there is the part about looking heavenly beautiful as well; which again is right up her alley.

As for Tabu being just a bit older than her, they are acting and being the performer Tabu is I dont think it will be any problem for her to nail down Miss Havisham. Being just older in real life has nothing to do with what you are doing on screen.

Lastly; they are following the book with a few changes:
- The location has shifted to Kashmir and India. Obviously. Kashmir I think in particular is a fab decision; it gives the movie a haunting and magical feel.

- About the characters; Lara said that hers will be the only one that is not based on the book. Everyone else's is playing the roles from the source material so theres that.

- I dont think Tabu will play her sister. It will destroy the entire dynamic of the story.

We don't know anything about Estella, because she is only seen from Pips perspective. What happens to her during her marriage is also narrated. In the altered ending pip and estella meet wordlessly..As adults they meet in the climax..like most hindi films. It is told that she has a change of heart..how and why we don't know.

But Mrs Havisham repents even before she catches fire..She repeatedly asks for forgiveness.her past with Compeyson is also described..how Mathew Pocket didn't like Compeyson..and was thrown oout..later she tried to make amends

and so on..

So now they are going after Katrina for bagging roles opposite hunks Sid and Aditya.
How long will Sid play opposite Alia shraddha ? He doesnt suit opposite Sonakshi somehow, neither Sonam. Katrina might not look like Alia shraddha age group but neither she looks like Sids aunt.
