Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra play siblings in Brothers. The duo were game for some fun questions and so were we. They let out many secrets over many laughs. Here's what happened when the team of Brothers set aside their gloves for an afternoon: If Brothers was called Lovers, which male co-stars would you want to be cast? Sid: The three of us would be apt because we have a lot of love for each other (Jackie Shroff and Akshay second it). If the film was called Sisters, who'd star in it? Akshay: Sonakshi Sinha and Jacqueline Fernandez. Sonakshi, because she is learning kick-boxing for Akira. She has done a good job in it. Jackie because she is very sporty. Sid: I think Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez. Deepika because she comes from a sports background and Jackie because she comes from gymnastics. I would pay to watch them battle it out. If you had a sex change like Bruce Jenner and had to look like a woman, who'd you choose to look like? Jackie: Monica Bellucci. Akshay don't get carried away. Akshay: My wife Tina. Sid: I am a big fan of Scarlett Johansson. She emulates both being bubbly and sexy at the same time. She is a great combination of both. Akshay, the secret behind your fitness? I like to have fun. I like to be positive. I like to enjoy my work. I don't like to take stress. These are not just things I am saying, I follow it. I work out everyday, one hour a day. And I think anyone who doesn't dedicate an hour in 24 hours should kill himself. What were the difficulties you had while shooting? Sid: So many...On camera, I'd never done MMA before, I am not saying I can beat someone now, but I can pretend to and scare the shit out of them. Off camera, there was a lot to learn. As Aksay says, he likes having fun. There's no comedy in the film, but there was a lot of laughter on the sets. Like Akshay would be doing an emotional scene with Jackie hugging him, and when he stepped away, all Jackie sir's buttons would be opened without his knowledge. Akshay: Seriously speaking, with MMA it is not just physical it's also mental. If you miss a punch, it'll come on your face. If I forget to block, I will get hurt. Both of us got bruised often. If that wasn't difficult enough, we had to take care of the bruise. We had to take cold baths. Iced baths for 15 minutes. Akshay is known to be a prankster on the sets. Sid: Yes, thanks to him we stopped roaming around with our phones, especially, when Akshay was on the set. Jackie: He has this habit of taking people's phones and texting random people I love you'. Akshay sent messages from my phone saying I love you' to many people including some guys and girls. You just have to leave your phone around him for one second and you will be in trouble. For the bodies you built, what kind of diets did you follow? Jackie: Akshay used to get dal-chawal, Sid was on six-pack meals and I used to get dhokla and fafda. They were meant to be opened at 4 pm. Akshay: At 4? You used to have it at 1.30 pm! Jackie: I used to keep it so that we could have it later. But I would often come without lunch so I had to open it. Sid: (Laughs) We used to have four boxes for the day, Jackie would open four for lunch. Things you learned about each other while working together. Akshay: I had no idea that Jackie brings snacks for lunch. Jackie: I had no clue Akshay could open your button in the middle of a scene. Sid: Akshay once gave me a crotch guard to wear while shooting a fight scene so I don't get injured. Then in the middle of the scene he suddenly pulled out the guard and I was shocked. I was stumped thinking how he managed to put his hands in my shorts and take off my guard without my knowledge. Then I realised he had two of the same kind and I was still wearing mine. One Hollywood action movie that left you spellbound... Akshay: Transporter and Kingsmen. Sid: The Avenger series. I like the first one more. Jackie: Rambo...in my days. Jackie and Akshay, if a biopic on your life is made who would you want cast in it? Jackie: My son Aarav! Akshay: And my son Tiger! Sid, if you had to do a biopic of an actor which actor would you want to play? Akshay: I think he should play Bachchan saab as he has a good voice... Sid: Ya, that would be great and interesting if somebody makes a film. We both have long limbs so that works. One thing you don't leave home without? Sid: My headphones to listen to music. Akshay: My sunglasses and baseball bat. Have you ever punched anyone off screen? Akshay: I have not punched anyone, but I have slapped a guy once for getting verbally and physically abusive with one of my friends. I warned him at least thrice but when that failed I ended up slapping him and he fainted. Sid: I am wary of punching someone because I may end up hurting them really badly. I may have punched someone in school but that was all fun and games. Jackie: I have punched Anil during the shooting of Yudh. During fight scenes he gets carried away and ends up injuring people. I had heard that so I punched him before he could hit me. And then I complimented him saying wow you look so good'. His face had swollen up. He forgot I had punched him and started checking himself out in the mirror. If three of you were asked to arm wrestle. Who do you think would win? Sid: Akshay sir. Jackie: I don't stand a chance. harshada.rege@dnaindia.net melisa.d'costa@dnaindie.nt |
