Even Avatar had average story however it was grand in every scene.
In India, Robot was amazing. I think VFX was superb. I don't find any bad scene in the film where the VFX is so bad.

Rest of the films, I agree.

I think it's because the first thing that's on producer's/director's minds is how much money they can put into the movie... the more the better. Of course people will like it if it's an high budget movie... yada yada. They look at script, plot, and other basic things later.

They think way too much about log kya kahenge
Ra One was an example wherein they made every effort to squeeze in things that the audience will love... Silly sexual jokes, cultural (mis)appropriation, Kareenas in the shortest dress designed by man, SRK and his abs and SRK-ness, heck even a cameo of Rajni to appease South viewers

It backfires after an extent. If they would've attempted to better the story and dialogs, it'd be an entirely different story for Ra one.

The audiences likes need to be kept in mind, but don't appear like a children's toy salesman.
