Radhika stares at Sam with disbelief, too shocked to react. Her hand automatically grazing her bruised cheek. Her gaze darts around the room, hoping that nobody noticed for they were standing away from the others. Seeing no reaction from anyone, Radhika is thankful that they were unobserved.
Seeing the altercation between them, angry, nostrils flaring, one thought occupying his mind, "how dare Sam slap Radhika." Arjun heads towards them when Nandini Di quickly grabs hold of Arjun's hand, stopping him mid stride.
Sam glares at Radhika angrily, saying, "I don't believe you. I don't believe you. I don't believe you." With each sentence, her voice getting louder. She continues, "The first two times you told me Arjun's attentions towards me were wrong. I trusted you blindly and broke it off. This time I don't believe you."
She grabs Radhika's hand and storms towards Arjun, oblivious of the scene she is creating... Stopping right in front of him, saying, "I think you need to hear this. Radhika..." His eyes caressing Radhika's bruised cheek, Arjun, interrupts Sam, saying, "let us have this conversation in private." Without waiting for a response, he walks out of the room.
Nandini smiles politely, placing Sam's hand into hers. Glaring at Radhika, while smirking internally. Infusing the right amount of care and concern in her voice, Nandini says, "come Sam."
Alone, Arjun paces to and fro whilst waiting for the others to join him. Mentally cursing himself for thinking that he was successful in convincing Radhika that his Di was not involved in the fire escapade that burnt down her family business. Deep down he was certain that Radhika had got it wrong. It was inconceivable for him to believe his sister could be so cruel. His conscious cries out, "well she has asked you to marry Sam with the expressed purpose of ruining her life! So why doubt Radhika?"
Shaking his head, Arjun mutters, "Di has no reason to hurt Radhika. Radhika is mistaken." His conscious retorts, "what about Sam? Sam has not done anything to hurt Di. Why should the sins of the father be passed to the child?" His retorts vhelmently, "damn it Radhika! Get out of my head." Neil who was about to show himself from one of the darkened corners of the room, frowns, hearing Arjun. He decides to remain hidden and observes silently.
"Arjun, guess what," Sam says, wasting no time. Turning to Radhika, Sam continues, "Radhika says that the reason you are marrying me is to hurt me..." Arjun's heart answers, "true." "... Radhika believes that you don't love me..." "True." "... She believes that you and Nandini Di were involved in burning her father's business." Arjun turns and stares at Radhika, hurt that Radhika would believe that he would do something to hurt her. Feeling betrayed that Radhika would share her doubts about the fire with another, even after he had told her that she was mistaken. His gaze turns cold as he continues to stare at Radhika. Infusing some warmth, he turns to Sam, his voice dejected, says, "I have nothing to say. It is for you to say. Do you believe Radhika or not?"
Sam looks at Arjun and says reassuringly, "I don't believe her. I don't believe her anymore." Turns to Radhika and adds scathingly, "I have watched how you have been hovering over Arjun lately. Fawning over him until yesterday. And today you tell me that Arjun doesn't love me. That he wants to hurt me. No Radhika. You are jealous. Admit it that you love Arjun. That you want to break us apart."
Arjun turns to stare at Radhika, his whole being, anxious, pleading that what Sam said is true. His heart thumps away, silently asking, hopeful, "do you love me?" Radhika stares at Sam. Shocked. Shaking her head, she retorts, "how can you say that? I don't love Arjun sir." Unaware that her denial was breaking his heart to pieces. She looks to Arjun, pleading, "please sir. Tell Sam I don't love you. That I..." Arjun stares at Radhika, reading her pleading gaze, silent. His tongue refused to form the words his heart knew, "she does not love me." Refusing to voice words that would tear up his soul.
"Oh stop it Radhika," Sam cries out as she interrupts her, "even now you are turning yo Arjun to bail you out. You are despicable." Nandini who is silently watching all this, smirks, happy that her plan to keep Radhika away from Arjun was working as she watches on silently as Sam lashes out at Radhika. Looking at Sam, she thinks, "gosh you are so easy to manipulate. It is like taking candy from a child."
Unable to see the hurt, the accusation in Radhika's gaze, Arjun steps away. Deep down he knew that she was expecting him to own up. To be honest. But he couldn't. He could not betray his Di. Filled with regret, he looks away.
Radhika's attention turns to Arjun, her eyes watering up with frustration as she watches Arjun turn away from her. No longer paying attention to Sam's rant. Disappointed, she wonders what she can do or say to prove to Sam that she is speaking the truth. That Arjun's intentions were not right and that she did not love Arjun!
The door opens, everybody freezes momentarily, silent as they turn towards the door. Piyali frowns slightly as she reads the tension in the room. Knowing that now was not the right time to ask Sam or Radhika. She smiles politely, walks into the room, saying, "Nandini. Sam. Here you are. Come you are needed outside."
Radhika and Arjun watch silently as Piyali takes Nandini and Sam with here. Once alone. The door shut. Radhika turns to Arjun and says in a strong voice, "don't delude yourself into thinking that this stone is no longer on your path." Ignoring her, Arjun raises his hand towards her, his fingertips slowly caressing her cheek, the cheek Sam slapped. It was as if his fingers had a mind of their own. He asks softly, "does it hurt?" Confused, Radhika shakes her head, replying softly, "no." He continues caressing her cheek, not ready to stop ax Radhika says softly, "sir you know I am not going to stop right? I will do everything I can to keep you from hurting Sam."
His gaze wistful, deep down wishing she cared for him too. Caressing her cheek one last time, he says in a resigned voice, accepting the truth, "yes I know." He then adds pleadingly, "Radhika, please believe me when I say you must be mistaken. Di would never do such a thing." Folding her hand in front of her chest, Radhika says stonily, "I saw what I saw sir. It is not I, but you that is mistaken." Shaking his head, he replies, "let us agree to disagree." Then adds softly, his soul needing the confirmation, "Radhika you know I would never hurt you, right?"
Her gaze softening, she nods as she takes his hand in hers and says pleadingly, "sir talk to me. Why do you want to hurt Sam? Why are you hell bent on choosing this darkness? Sir both of you will suffer if you go ahead with this. Please talk to me." Pulling his hand out of her clasp, his gaze filled with regret, Arjun says, "I can't. My path is chosen." He smiles wryly, content that deep down she believes that he would never harm her. His fingers trace the handprint once more as his soul says goodbye, he says, "if it is any consolation, I will lose the most. I will hurt the most." Confused, Radhika wonders why her vision is blurry as she watches Arjun walk away. Lifting her fingers, she caresses her eye. Feeling wetness, she looks at at her fingertips and realises that it is her tears. She looks back up at Arjun, trying to understand why she is crying.
Neil stands there shocked, silently reading the love Arjun has for Radhika, thinking, "shit. He loves her. What the hell is going on?" Standing behind Radhika, he says, "you are not alone Radhika. He won't hurt Sam. Together we will stop this marriage."
The next day, Arjun looks about him, the is laughter and celebration all around. He too should be happy over the success of his revenge plan. Instead he was still brooding over Radhika's accusation that Di was responsible for the fire. Frowning he looks at his phone, thinking, "why was Radhika so adamant that she saw a video on my phone that would prove everything." He clicks on the folder for videos and scrolls one more time. Sighing, he thinks, "no such video." Clicking back, he sees another folder named recently deleted. Knowing Radhika, he has a niggling doubt. Clicking on to the folder, he frowns as he sees a deleted video. Suddenly filled with dread, he clicks play to watch the video.
He sits still for several seconds, shocked to the core, his mind in shambles as he tries to grasp the situation. Angry that his Di tried to harm Radhika, he storms up to her and slaps her, yelling, "how dare you hurt Radhika? I thought I made it clear that you have nothing to worry about. I promised you that I would marry Sam. So. Why. Hurt. Radhika!"
Sam who was with Nandini, looks at Arjun then back at Nandini with confusion. Neil and Radhika who were in a nearby room, quickly rush out when they hear the commotion. sensing Arjun's fury, Nandini decides that she needs to take Arjun away from everyone, that he was not in control,of his emotions and could easily ruin everything.
Nandini grabs Arjun's hand and says, "let us discuss this privately." Arjun pulls away from her, yelling, "no! Answer me first. Why did you hurt Radhika?" Angry, Nandini replies, "I wanted to keep her away from you." Surprised, Arjun yells, "why?" To which Nandini yells back, "because you were falling in love. You wanted to back out of our plan! You promised you would avenge my suffering. You wanted to back out of the marriage. I couldn't have Radhika change you." Arjun stares at his Di in disbelief and says brokenly, "she only wanted me to embrace the light within me and not the darkness. She cared about my soul."
Sam stares at Arjun, saying, "omg! Radhika was saying the truth. She was right." Arjun looks at Sam with regret as Radhika races over. Sam sees Radhika and says in daze, "you were right. I doubted you. I..." Radhika pulls her into an embrace and says, "I will always wish I was wrong." Wiping her tears Radhika says, "I am glad the truth came out before it was too late." Her gaze hardens as she stares coldly at Arjun.
