Interesting topic and one where there are pros and cons to the couple being discussed each valid or invalid in their own way...but at the end of the day it's a person' own choice which counts, what makes them accept and like a couple, a fictional one on TV or in movies where it's the simple mantra - to each their own.
As stated in the cons about what doesn't make IshRa a good couple - they are true, they are awful in those aspects and don't deserve the 'perfect couple' tag ...which I believe could be handed over to a diametically opposite couple which exists on the same channel - Naitik and Akshara - the hubby doesn't insult his wife, neither does she, there are no ex-wives/ex-boyfriends there only loads and loads of celebrations all through the year that the couple and family believe in celebrating, obviously for a show that has completed over 1000 episodes it has to be doing something right and yet there are posts mocking the very couple...there are people who call this sugary, sachharine sweet couple unreal too despite there being no flaws to them like IshRa have and why - because they think that they are too good to be true, they think that a man like Naitik who addresses his wife with an 'aap' even after all these years of marriage and two teenaged kids cant exist - but that's just being narrow minded isn't it? Why can't a husband respectfully address his wife with an 'aap' and what has the number of years they have been married got to do with it? I have also read it's so crazy that they show a couple with two teens romancing at the drop of a hat - because romance is wiped out of a marriage by that time...well I haven't observed many couples who act lovey-dovey with grownup kids but then again it all varies from couple to couple doesn't it? You gotta be young at heart to romance your wife no matter if you are 30 or 60, age is but a number in this case...
Then there are couples worse than IshRa on TV too, yeah those exist too, believe it or not and yet they have fans. There' another Balaji production which is currently among the top 5 shows of the country that runs on a different channel called KKB, I am sure people must be aware of it too and guess what it's utterly unbearable and yet the lead couple of the show is shipped - this despite the fact that the husband has a girlfriend who he sleeps around with despite being married to his wife, the heroine, the wife who knows about the said affair between her husband and the girlfriend and yet falls in love with the man and accepts their relationship, so much so that when she believes the said girlfriend is pregnant with her husband' child she wants them to settle down and get married...oh also the husband has a sister who is forever brainwashing him against his wife and scheming against the wife' sister because apparently she has the hots for the sister' boyfriend/fiance...together this couple is a definition of people who should be locked in a straitjacket and then put in an asylum because the wife is a perpetual doormat and the husband a nincompoop who cannot use his brains or have the basic common sense which should exist in us humans and yet, yet...the show is number one on the channel on which it airs and the couple who as per their fans have an insanely amazing chemistry are the best that they ever saw - some call them their OTP and what not...while Ishita is seen donating her husband' gifts and also bringing his ex and their son home, accepting her husband' children with his ex and raising them as her own...I wonder if they will ever show her being cool if Raman starts sleeping with Shagun again, that is if the man can manage to get over the disgust he feels for her or is inebriated enough ever to make the mistake...also Raman for his lapses as an awful husband and sometimes a ridiculous man as is evident in the current track, doesnt actually always come across as a guy with more brawns than brains to people and I doubt he ever will...
I am not offending the sensibilities of any fan groups I suppose when I mention Abhi-Pragya or Naitik-Akshara, if I do I apologise to them then. However, this post is what one would call an open debate about how IshRa are a rather bad couple or the worst of the lot...well they can't be the worst until and unless comparisions are made now can they be? So yeah compared to Naitik - Akshara, they are awful...its another thing that even those two are labeled as 'unreal' or 'too good to be true' and compared to Abhi-Pragya I'd say they are a lot better after all a wife being cool about her husband sleeping around is quite something man...I am sure Ishita would thrash Raman should he ever do that or even attempt it and if he succeeds, then she will walk out on him and we would see this much loved duo sepearate for x number of years like N number of soaps where perhaps after years and years it may be revealed that Raman never did anything or perhaps he did and Shagun had another child with him, just an illegimate one this time around like Karan from Kyunki and so many others...but thats a bridge we can cross when we come to it.
The point is...are there really any 'ideal' couples at all? I dont think so, hell they cant even exist in real life. The couple that is emulated on most shows, the couple which is said to be the ideal couple who should be worshipped that of Lord Ram and his wife Sita, a god and goddess couldnt be perfect if we look at it - how could they be when after he rescued her from Raavan the first thing she had to undergo was a purity test and yet she had to be banished from her kingdom and her home that too without a word from her husband who asked his younger brother to do the needed for him based on the allegations of a common launderer? When he did find his wife after his sons came to him she chose to return to her mother than live with her husband because her respect had been compromised by him.
If gods and goddesses cannot be perfect, how can mere mortals be? And if REAL people cannot be perfect why is PERFECTION seeked in a 'FICTIONAl' couple? Its pointless and rather silly isnt it? The best and the only option I think available is watching a couple you think you find bearable and love to watch - if you can do that thats great for you isnt it? Why waste time and money over people you cant even like I say?
However it all depends who one chooses to like then - one man' hell can be someone else' paradise, similarly one person' loathed couple can be another person' favorites...its a matter of perspective and choice isnt it, to select which 'UNREAL'/'FICTIONAL' couple you would rather waste your time and money over - the saccharine sweet Naitik Akshara and the likes, the awful and crazy IshRa and the likes or the moronic and silly Abhi Pragya and the likes.
