Call to vote for Amit Paul in Indian Idol contest

GUWAHATI, – At a time when the entire North East has come together irrespective of caste, creed and religion to make its son Amit Paul the next Indian Idol, the vote appeal campaign for the latest singing sensation from Meghalaya gained more strength with some international traders also joining the surge.

But despite this, there is a sense of diasatisfaction hovering in the minds of the people of Meghalaya. They want the people of Assam to pay back the support, which they showered on Debojit when the latter was vying for the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa crown.

"Around a year back the entire NE region including Meghalaya was busy voting for Debojit Saha who was from Assam. But somehow, we have not seen the same level of enthusiasm from the people of Assam for Amit as it was for Debojit," said Jai Modak, a trader who has come to Guwahati along with members of a non-governmental organisation to garner votes for Amit through some road shows.

"We organised rallies for Debojit throughout Meghalaya last year but the same intensity is not seen in Guwahati. There is hardly any serious campaign being carried out in any part of Assam," Modak opined.

Why assam only, the whole india needs to support amit. he's talented and he deserves to get as much support as he can

1st of all there is another articles sayin that amit has recd sopprt frm filmstars n singers frm assam...(incl debojit)
2nd amit has made it so far into the comp based not only on the support frm his region (which is also huge) but also frm muzik luvers all around india n the world... (this is esp trus in the initial galas when the wave of amit paul frenzy had not swept the NE states...)
so amitfanz dont let it get u down... he will win...v just need to keep at it... in addition to votin rselves try 2 convince as many ppl as u can to give sum votes to him ...any no. will do...each vote is impt

Isn't Prashant from NE too? So, why the NE is going to support Amit only? Besides Debojit has already won from Assam so it won't be fair for the rest of Indians to choose 2 singers from Assam. Where is diversity? India is a country of full diversity. If there is no democracy in a country like india which has got the second largest population in the world, it will create problem in the future.

lol wot on earch r u talkin about Mr. India😆....wot has democracy gotta do wid voting system of a reality tv show? FYI, medhalaya and Assam happen to be distinct states in the north east of india. n Amit hails from medhalaya whereas debojit from assom. .....so ur diversity/democracy rule dosn't apply in this case!

Why only Assam...I think all of India should be busy voting for Amit right now..

Besides this is Indian Idol... so why is Prashant saying he wants to win to make his Nepalis proud..I thought he was Indian not Nepali..

And if he is Nepali why is he competing in Indian Idol...(is there a mistake somewhere??)
