BM will be second Devdas for SLB. It reminds me of the magnum opus.

It will be remembered long after Dilwale has been forgotten because Rohit Shetty's films are all mindless masala flicks. It might earn some money but it won't win any awards or critical accliam.

Overall, BM will work for performances, critical acclaim, commercial reasons( Deepika being main reason), it will have that aesthetic factor...so I think BM will be winner in true sense of the word.

I think Bajirao Mastani will work because it looks far removed from the idiotic Devdas from the leaked stills

And

Corliss was the only critic who stayed until the end of Devdas at the film's press screening in Cannes in 2002. All other critics walked out (as did most Academy members when the film was screened for the Oscar nomination process).

I meant in terms of grandeur and the huge sets, the budget etc. Not in terms of weak script.

But BM has chances of working more, I feel, as it has something grand and larger-than-life about it. Maybe, it will beat Dilwale at its own game - i.e. in escapist fantasty and bringing the masses to the screen.
