Does Bollywood lack guts?

This is in reference to the current FTII controversy.

So far I guess only Resul Pookutty, Nawazuddin, Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Kiran Rao, Pallavi Joshi, Sudhir Mishra and to some extent Anupam Kher have openly dared to support students' protests and opposed Gajendra Chauhan's appointment as chairman, and spoken against political interference in creative institutions.

Not counting other famous people who spoke out because most of them are not from conventional Bollywood.

Where are likes of Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi now? Where's rest of Bollywood? Where are FTII alumni themselves, like, Ashutosh Gowariker, Jaya Bachchan and Raju Hirani?

Why is Bollywood so scared to openly take a stand?

FTII is an institution of international importance. It is not just another institute to play around with.

Why can't the industry and creative professionals take a stand now? Support their students?

Gajendra Chauhan is no way experienced or qualified or excellent enough to serve as Chairman of such a prestigious institution. Heck! He was not even top notch as a TV actor.

Why does Bollywood behave like a scaredy cat? So afraid to protect integrity of cinematic institution? So afraid of political establishment?

If you won't come forward for your field, your fraternity, then who else will? Isn't it their responsibility to support their alma mater? Can't believe much of FTII alumni is also being silent.

They showed plenty of guts in supporting Salman over his judgement. The truth is BW cares only for money. If FTII would have had their money riding ie it was some institute funded by their own money then you should have seen the support.

Haha! Yeah they showed plenty of "guts" in supporting their convicted brethren. 😆

I can't believe FTII alumni like Hirani, VVC, Gowariker, Jaya Bachchan, Danny Denzogpa etc are all silent!

VVC is otherwise so outspoken! He is hiding at home now?

I do not expect anything from Shatrughan Sinha or Vinod Khanna because I guess they have been associated with BJP themselves.

Have Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah spoken? Where are all the hi-fi FTII alumni now? Shabana Azmi is also from FTII no? Still silent?

If rest of the industry is mum atleast the alumni must speak for their alma mater.

I can't believe they are not bothered about this institution that gave Indian cinema much to be proud of, on a global level?

Aamir should have spoken up himself but he just sent Kiran on his behalf.

The film fraternity is really disappointing with their silence.

I find Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor's speaking up surprising...esp the latter. Probably trying to gain some good PR after BV.

You have nailed it...yes BW lacks guts ...the big wigs never take a stand on anything.

May be preaching in movies is easier.
